It came down to a choice of 1 spot left for either Dossena, El Zhar, and Degen. Obviously, the Doss won out

1. I would've had El Zahr in the squad over the fat Ukrainian troll,,,

2. Why is Insua in Player list 'B'  , whereas Martin Kelly is in the main list? ???
I've watched my Heroes throught the slats at Melwood,,
I've STOOD on the KOP,,
I've cried for the 96 ,,

Don't EVER question my loyalty or support.

Just read the CL draw thread,,,,

Player list B means nothing,,,,,still do'nt know why Pacheco is'nt on it,,,

if even for the boys confidence?, seeing your name on a CL squad list, on UEFA's official website has got to give you a boost.

Speaking of website's, why does lfc.tv look so un-flashy and $h1t??

I went to Chelski's website to look at the french kid they got in trouble over,, their site pis$es on ours.

The Doss is one of our best strikers in Europe tho... surely we should be playing him up front more  :upside:  :Oo:

How does this work again ?
Thought we needed 8 domestic grown players with only 4 needing to be home grown..right ?

home grown:

Gerrard
Carra
Spearing
Darby

Domestic:

Martin
Johnson
Kelly
Eccelston

Thats 8 which leaves 17 other slots to be filled in the 25man squad...

1.Reina
2.Cavalieri
3.Elzhar
4.Insua
5.Dossena
6.Skrtel
7.Agger
8.Greek guy
9.Mascherano
10.Lucas
11.Aquilani
12.Riera
13.Benny
14.Babel
15.Kuyt
16.Torres
17.Voronin

Ace here is how I explain it:

At most, you can register 25 senior players.

At most, 17 of those 25 can be internationals*   aka, there are 8 slots reserved for domestic players

OF those 8, AT LEAST 4 of those reserve slots are further reserved for players trained at the club

These reserve slots are "use them, or lose them"  If you simply do not have enough players, then you just simply do not register the full allotment of 25 players

If you wanted to register a "5th" English non-LFC player, it would have to be in place of one of your international slots

We only registered 23 players

1-17 internationals (everybody but El Zhar and Degen  (don't know how you got El zhar and Insua in your list)

domestic association trained (aka "english")
Johnson
David Martin

Club Association Trained  (aka "scousers")
Gerrard
Carra
Spearing^
Kelly^

#####################

THEN  there is the B list. It is unlimited, and there are no playing restrictions. Hence, its actually better to be on it because you don't take away spots from other people.  In order to be on it, (this year) you have to be born after January 1 1988 AND have been at the club for 2 seasons.  ALso, you can update it before each game.

We put the following on the B list from the start:
Darby
Insua
Plessis
Eccleston
Amoo

and then its interesting to note that Pacheco and Ayala could be potential future B listers this season

* being trained in a country means playing three seasons at a club (or in a country) between 16 and 21.  Hence Hargreaves counts as a foreigner and Fabregas counts as a homegrown Arsenal player

^^^ Spearing and Kelly could have gone on the B list based on their age, and if we would have bought players like Owen and Warnock, Spearing and Kelly would have been on the B list.

Forget about all the youngsters and the 'B list' for a sec... nothing from what you said contradicts with the 25man squad i put up.. and that one has Elzhar, Dossena and Insua in it...

Only 'senior' player missing is Degen... but then again we have Kelly, and Darby at the very least covering the RB spot...

Atm, we're lacking in terms of wingers with this 25man setup.. from what ive seen, Elzhar is a player we seem to use in many games as a sub to provide some pace down the right wing when needed... no reason why he shouldnt be in that squad imo....

You left out Aurelio and N'Gog.   El Zhar is both a fringe player and currently hurt.  While Aurelio may also be hurt, when he comes back he is our best LB, so he is worth waiting for, like Aquilani.

For me the choice is between El Zhar and Doss.  Doss is currently the 2nd choice LB and our only other left-footed LM option.  El Zhar is our 3rd choice RW, but is maybe the only one who you would expect to play like a winger.

Either way its not likely to affect our advancement into the knockout stages.  This is also why I don't pay any attention to arguments about how we shouldn't buy foreigners because of the CL rules.  Clearly, nobody would lose any sleep about throwing a Silva in the mix and sacrificing a Doss

Truth is we're not likely to use much beyond the 18 players below as starters/subs, any others will mainly be subs or injury cover :

GK (1) : Reina
DF (6) : Agger, Carra, Skrtel, Aurelio, Insua, Johnson
MF (8) : Kuyt, Benayoun, Gerrard, Mascherano, Lucas, Riera, Aquilani, Babel
CF (3) : Torres, N'Gog, Voronin

Beyond that lot does it really matter much who the 'make up the numbers' players are? Although I would have had El Zhar in as something different, probably in place of Dross. RB would be my main concern, more in the knockouts than group stages, but you couldn't have El Zhar and Degen without weakening elsewhere. Can we change named players in the new year? I might have left out Agger instead for the groups, unless he is imminently set for return he may well prove a waste of squad place anyway
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

I believe that you are only allowed to add 2 new players for the knockout stages. It could be three, but I'm pretty sure its just 2.
