Also Tel aviv, has had an awful lot of suicide bombs. Destroying major buildings. Maybe the LFC team hotel next? We should just refuse to play in the country full stop

The Suicide bombs in Tel Aviv were mentioned on the news tonight, for your information! I cant name exact buildings. If you need help then just type in your search engine...tel aviv bombings!

Hopefully the away game will be safe for both teams! i really don't want both teams to play in israel

as a Lebanese, what do you think about the Hizbulla? how can it be that Lebanon army can not control a terror organization in it's own land and needs Israel to fight it?

And also, as you must know, Israel pulled out of Lebanon 6 years ago. What do you think Israel has to do when A terror organization attacks us from Lebanon?

Whats with all this "chicken thing"?...no one here deserves to be labled a chicken just because some (myself included) think it would be unwise for L.F.C. to send a team out to one of the most volitile regions of the middle east and expect us to send our fans over as well. while we are on the subject of tel-aviv being so called "safe" from attacks could you explain to us all if this is the case then why is the Israeli army fighting in Gaza?..I'll tell you why its to stop the rockets that have been targeted on southern Israel so even tel-aviv is not as safe as you would like to have us beleive.

I am an FX trader. I have lots of friends in London. Last week about 60 of them came to Tel Aviv to an Investmanet Seminar we had here.
At first some were afraid. At the the last day (it was a 4 days seminar) they wanted to stay for another week ....
I know that israel looks bad when all your info is from Sky news.
But hey, I see the beaches. I see the pubs and restaurants. I see the clubs and bars ...

You know what - those of you that will come (and I am sure that lots of LFC fans WILL come) - I will buy you beer at the old Tel Aviv port ....

For your safety and for the safety of others, Tel aviv is not safe, i'm hearing alot of cr*p about hizballah not having the rockets that can reach tel aviv, and i'll tell you this,as a lebanese, origins from the south of lebanon, Hizballah has the rockets that CAN reach tel aviv! they call it the "zilzal" rocket or earthquake rocket that can reach up to 200-400 km.

Thats why i don't want this game to be played in israel, for the safety of the people

This thread has dipped quite a bit off topic and comparisons are being made that really arn't there... i'm gonna stick to the football if it's alright with everyone...

Tough game as it happens. Haifa have been on the fringes or thereabouts for ages and as such will represent a 'test' (without being disrespectful, i mean a test in qualifying terms) - more so than in previous years.

As such, the first leg is crucial. We need to obtain a decent lead in this game, not only for our Champions League ambitions, but also our league ambitions as well. I don't fancy having majority of the first squad shipped across Europe to play a qualifier. If the first leg renders the second beyond doubt, we could (theoretically) send our second string to get some form of result and retain our freshness in the league and build up to the Champions League Group stage.

This certainly ain't a forgone conclusion - we will need to approach the 1st leg professionally and make sure we get the result we want to ensure our progress is as smooth as possible. A 2 or 3-0 win won't really do in my eyes to completely put the tie to bed - we need to be looking at the 4's n 5's to ensure we can keep the majority of the squad fresh so early in the season.

Agreed with ya mate, get a really good result at home then finish it away so we can get to the group stages.

but we don't want to underestimate haifa because they can surprise us like other teams last year.

I agree with REDTILLDEAD, I would usually go but my head says don't. If that makes me chicken, then I guess I'm chicken. I'm sure your country is safe but I don't know why but I just get a bad feeling. If it weren't for the war I'd go. I'm sure parts of Israel are safe but it's a country against a country not parts of a country. Whatever you do nowadays there is a risk but I'm sorry this is a risk I and many others will not take.

Maybe it is the fact that the tragedy we faced on that day in April 1989 has a bearing on the club's decision. We have already mourned two horrific days in football (Heysel and Hillsborough) and we want to make sure we don't mourn another one. In ten years time when I'm nearly 25, I don't want to remember something that could have been avoided. Can you imagine if the game does get played in Israel and a few missiles hit the stadium and players, fans, officials etc all lost their lives? It would be horrific. The chances of this happening may be unlikely but there is a chance it could happen. How do you know that missiles don't go as far south? No-one can take that chance. As we know, nothing is as it appears to be. If the match is moved to a neutral venue in another country it gets rid of the risks.

Let's say there is another terror attack in London by Bin Laden...
Do you think in that case (due to the high risk) games should be played away from England?
Terror and risk is EVERYWHERE these days.
It happend in New York, in London, in Madrid, Istanbul (many times) Moscow and many other places.
I can understand that you might want to go to a "less" risky place than Israel. But Hey, we all know England is a target of Bin Laden due to your part in the war in Iraq. So let's play in a "less risky" place.
I say, first leg in Sweeden. ok?
