Carra was right to do that, just not on the pitch. Arby is too carefree at times. Against Arsenal especially.

A team of Carras. That's all im saying.  :;):

who would you prefer in the team...a true pro who bleed in red and wear his passion on his sleeve or one with a "couldn't be arsed" attitute?

Agreed Ciggy, it was bang out of order from Carra, he pushed his OWN TEAM MATE, even though Arbeloa is sloppy, you can't do that to your own team mate.

I'm shocked at what happened, I know how carragher is very passionate, but you should control your emotion or else you do something you regret, and what Carragher did, he will regret it later.

Reminds me of Lee Bowyer v Keiron Dyer incident, we don't want to stoop to their level.

I have watched the game with 2 hours delay because of Spanish TV.

Carraguer was "right" to be angry with Arbeloa, because we were under pressure for some minutes and in two or three actions Arbeloa's intensity wasn't the best. In the first half I saw a couple of details like these from the Spaniard, who entered his siesta mode.

All that said, Carraguer should have done the telling off in the dressroom, because that image will be used by the media to say it's due to yesterday's result. A mistake of Carra. Carraguer should know aswell he also made mistakes this season, like the one of West Ham. There are things that are to be solved in the dressroom.

On the pit cage question I don'w know. A dog that barks a lot, doesn't bite much (Spanish saying). Carraguer barks a lot, but I'd like to see him with the punchs.

Yeah spot on. He was right to do it but just not in the way he did in front of everyone.

PS I like that 'siesta mode' phrase. I think I will have to use that to refer to whenever he switches of again.  :D

For those who didn't hear Rafa post match.

Rafa upbeat on Carra-Arbeloa clash

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has said he is proud at the way his side held off a strong fight from West Brom today to earn three points, secure 2nd place in the league and finish with the club’s highest ever points tally in the Premier League.

Talking about the second half bust-up between Jamie Carragher and Alvaro Arbeloa, Benitez said the situation showed a great mentality to keep a clean sheet and win the game, even though the title is now out of reach.

He told press, “You could see Carragher and Arbeloa because we wanted a clean sheet and they were a little bit nervous. I don’t like what I saw, but I am trying to see the positive side of things.

“Arbeloa was going forward and then we had some problems in defence. We wanted to protect Pepe Reina because now I think he has 20 clean sheets - van der Sar has 21.

“It’s a positive message in terms of the mentality of the team. We wanted to show character and a winning mentality.

Carra’s Arbeloa rant for Pepe

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has revealed how he had goalkeeper Pepe Reina’s interests in mind when he blew up in fury at full-back Alvaro Arbeloa during today’s 0-2 victory at West Brom.

Midway through the second half, Carragher squared up to his teammate, angry at some sloppy defensive play by the Spaniard. Xabi Alonso and Daniel Agger had to step in to make sure things didn’t get too heated.

But Carragher says his passionate response to Arbeloa’s play was because he was so desperate to keep a clean sheet.

He told reporters, “We can’t win the league now but there are a number of targets we can aim for. We want to keep a clean sheet and we want Pepe to have a chance of the Golden Glove for the third season running. Pepe is one behind Van der Sar now and there’s a chance Van der Sar won’t play next week, so we wanted to make sure he got a clean sheet today.

“To be honest we were a bit lackadaisical in our defending all through the game and they had too many chances.”

The win means Liverpool will definitely finish second in the Premier League this season and earn with it an automatic Champions League spot, whilst West Brom were fated to relegation.

After a tough 90 minutes, Carragher continued, “Maybe we took it a bit too easy and let them attack us too much, but that was one of the toughest games I’ve played in all season. We go all over Europe playing top teams and we play against the best sides in this country, but that was one of the hardest games we’ve had.”
