Brendan Rodgers thread (signs extended contract)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

another good interview from rodgers that.handles himself very well in front of the media.
seems that we will prob add a few new players.maybe 1 of note with a couple of young squad fillers who hopefully can put pressure on starting positions.
i wouldnt think we will lose a lot and rodgers will give everyone a chance to impress so it will be interesting to see who can up there game with a new philosophy and tactics.he also spoke about his willingness to recognise young lads from the academy and thats some thing that has been missing here for too long.
cant wait till we start playing some games

I am uninspired by our links to Boroni.

He put back up the 'This is Anfield'  sign that Shankly first installed, what next? resurrect the Boot Room?  I'm loving this guy.

The more I hear from Brendan Rodgers the less I like a strange interview. Doesn't he want to stay for ten years or more then? Perhaps he's trying to put himself in the market for the job at Stamford Bridge.

Oh well if he does after four years then so be it.

Lol he's just joined us and you think he's trying to pitch for a job at Stamford Bridge? That's an just absolutely inane thing to say.

All he said was that he isn't sure if he'll have liverpool's legendary status restored in his time. It's called being MODEST, and definitely not what you interpreted it to be.

Management by text message.

Has BR met Suarez yet?  From what I read, no he hasn't.

Yet he's gushed about the lad like a teenage tart at her first disco.

Hmmmm......

He's downplaying expectations and in the process taking pressure off his players.

He is also explaining the core of the strategy going forward as being located in the 'system'.

As I understand it, establishing the system across the club, especially in the 1st team, is the priority, the money/expenditure is secondary, esp with a txfer policy that focusses on young, technical players who are hungry for success, but always with the allowance to spend thebig bucks if a certain high value player who meets the above criteria were to emerge.

Thats why he is speaking about the possibility of success coming after his tenure...

This is indeed a long term vision.
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

It's not mostly his fault though ycsta, He knows he won't get the backing he needs in the transfer market to buy players.

Our owners aren't doing enough, and we will succumb to mediocrity once BR doesn't get the backing to make us a force again.

i know that mate i`m just pi$$ed off and talking sh*te,
the fella doesnt stand a chance really, he`s expected to close the gap between us and the top clubs by spending less than them? some job remit that.
it`s not as if the other teams are managed by fella`s who havent got a clue, the likes of ferguson and wenger have been through more title run in`s and won more trophys....they`ve seen it all.
i disagree with him pushing carroll out though and i`m dissappointed that he`s letting the yanks bring dempsey in. it`s not that dempsey is a bad player, he`s decent in the air and that will come in handy when carrolls gone but the whole thing stinks of selling shirts in the states.
i just cant help feeling that our priorities have shifted from winning trophies to making money.

But how much money really needs to be spent on improving the squad to get us back playing CL football? Bearing in mind that Arsenal aren't spending big and have major problems of their own to deal with including the probable departure of their captain, Spurs don't have the benefit of CL football to attract players and are also likely to lose Modric, I don't see why it should take Chelsea or Man City levels of spending for us to break into the top four. Spent wisely, £30m + player sales should be enough.

Once we're back in the CL, it's a whole new ball game. Revenues jump, players become easier to keep and new players become easier to attract. We need to make most of our opportunity now, whilst the club is still generating good money and is still able to call on the likes of Reina, Gerrard and Suarez, otherwise we really will be up against it.

Get rich quick merchants? Perhaps you should read about John Henry before saying so.
