"You've got some of the world's best supporters here and the playing group is not quite at that level yet.
What excities me is the motivation to get that level back up again and that is why I came."

I was (and still am) a little underwhelmed by the appointment but I have taken great comfort, confidence and enthusiasm from what I have read about Rodgers and have also listened to his interview yesterday and a call with Talksport earlier today.

The guys comes across an extremely confident person without being arrogant, a great communicator, he is clear on his footballing methods and his plans for LFC. Already he is playing down the hype and not making any kind of bold statements about we will be this, that and the next thing and instead accepts that he has a massive job at LFC that will take time.

Nothing but impressed with what I have seen/heard yet and I am excited about the future under this guy.

I would love us to sign Joe Allen as he has the potential to be a top top player. Don't know much about Sigurdson but he is also apparently on the radar.

I really dont get this way of thinking?
We all agree we underachieved and some of the performances were atrocious. That said we had our best player banned for 9 games and a tsunami of sh'it to cope with due to Evra and purple nose. If we take all that away we should have realistically came about 5th, or even with a bit of luck, 4th. Therefore with a different manager, a different attitude and some luck that deserted us last year we will easily be better and should be looking at a top 4 finish as a matter of course. If these players play 10% better next season we would have a team which could easily compete with the top 4, even the top 2.
I know the points difference was massive but all those draws and stupid losses would be cancelled out and the gap would not be anywhere near it was last season.
We have a good, intelligent and passionate manager who has a vision and philosophy. When he convinces the players of how great they are we will see a totally different mentality and the results will start coming.
Believe in Brendan!

Agree with this when you also add in Lucas injury and the fact we had a pile of new signings in their first season as well.
While Im not expecting overnight success,I still  dont see any reason to be as doom and gloom because of last season league position and underachievement

You obviously don't get what a massive ask it is of him to get us into the top 4.
Saying Lucas is the answer to everything and a bit of luck is just horse ****. We were just as close to relegation as top 4 ffs and no team has goes from midtable to the cl places in Pl history.
If he manages to get us into the top 4 it would be a great achievement, but as it looks that would be an unfair demand. Arsenal, Chelski had poor season and still were far ahead of us.
They will not have poor seasons every year.
But sure, go ahead and think that we'll all of a sudden go from midtable 3 seasons in a row to a fight at the top of the table.

The BS went from 9th to 4th one season

Spurs went from 15th to 4th in 18 months

City went from 12th to 3rd

I dont think anyone is expecting it to happen but it is possible

+1

If you get the right manager it can turn very quickly.

They are playing it down but privately will be going all out
for that 4th this year.

We are 2 players short... a deep lying midfield playmaker (the controller), and a goalscoring penalty box forward.

We have the goalkeeper
We have the back 4
Of the front six positions we have Gerrard, Lucas (hopefully back), and Suarez... which leaves 3 vacancies

2 big new signings (the two spots i mentioned).

Which leaves the wide area... Downing has a lot to prove, while Sterling i expect to break through even more under Brendan.

The Carroll situation will be interesting... being technically good on the floor, and being mobile to keep up with play and close down the opposition, are two requirements under Brendan that Carroll is not particulary strong at (and if it so proves he doesnt fit then it solidifies the manic decision last january to (a).buy him, and (b).allow the manager who bought him leave after only 1 year). Brendan has been lumbered with players who cost 110m and only 1 of them looks good enough.

The great thing about Brendan coming is he is now in full charge of things after the shambolic last 18 months of mismanagement from the owners on the sporting side. The fact they werent even sold on a director of football (as Brendan confirmed) shows just how little they were sure of what to do. Thankfully we now have someone who is.

The other isn't a supporter - he is a "fan" - big difference

And the guy wasn't getting slatted for being foreign more clueless.
