On one hand, I think he obviously plays a great style of football and I'm delighted to
see the first Irishman (yes, Irish) get the Liverpool job.
On the other hand, he's relatively inexperienced at this level so i reckon the whole
thing could become overwhelming and he won't win over the dressing room, which is
always the most important thing.

Feck it, lets just get behind the guy and hope for the best...

A lot of fans will be waiting with bated breath i reckon

He Northern Irish. We are a country. Look it up.

I would like to see us allow Rodgers free reign to select targets this summer as
in the past we have signed long term targets that were scouted by the previous
regime.

Those players on our hit list must now be reviewed completely so that the new
manager and his team can establish if they will fit the way they want us to play
and if we can pick up better players for the money.

Hopefully some real pace will be added especially up front were we are simply
not explosive enough in posession or on the counter attack.

I second that, BR talks quite a bit about specific attributes which fit his system.  It's the opposite of just throwing really good players together and getting results based on talent, it has to be the right chemistry.

PMSL at the suggestion that Mr No Assists Downing's crosses were not the problem! I must have been watching another player? Given that he hardly ever beats the defender to cross the ball back across the goal I'm not sure were all these fantastic fizzing crosses are coming from because I certainly never witnessed them! I watched him on numerous occasions pass the ball five yards sideways or backwards and that is why his assist record is pathetic. Downing simply doesn't do the good stuff often enough. To be frank I'm fed up with saying it.Good luck Brendan with our Stewie !!! As Kenny said he's sh.ite !!

Once he has signed his contract, he'll get started straight away with finding the players we need, and added to that, I think he'll bring in some very exciting players.

Ten of the times we hit the woodwork came from a Downing cross - Downing himself hit the woodwork 3 times.

Unsure how you can hit the woodwork from a cross if what you say is true !

He was disappointing last year and suffered more than most from chances being missed

Heard on Talksport that the compensation has been sorted out, and that he'll bring 3 of his staff with him, though no mention of who they are.

I hope he starts with a clean sheet and everyone plays for their place. Last season has gone and people shouldnt be judged by it
Hopefully if hes as bright as we think he is he will see who should stay and who should go. It will be as plain as the nose on Thommo's face

Job done, he'll start the job next week.

With a bit of luck we'll get some scouts out to the Euros and Rodgers can start assessing our squad.

Actually, it's a partition, as for Brendan, well he's Obviously Nationalist, being from Carnlough and all, which is mostly Nationalist, so, yes, he's Irish. He no doubt owns an Irish passport and a British one too. But let's not get into that one, eh. Really bores the f*ck out of me.

As for his appointment, I'm not sure what to make of it. I'm confused how FSG actually went from sacking an experienced manager that's won major things, knows the club, played for the club, has a high esteem of the club, to someone who has relatively no experience of all the aforementioned. I'll back him. No other choice in the matter there. I always maintain you judge a manager by his signings, so I'll wait and see who he gets in. Kenny made some f*ck ups last summer, but never got the chance to correct it. This will be Brendan's litmus test.

Harry Redknapps verdict when swansea played them off the park at the Lane earlier in the season:

Redknapp said: "I'm a big fan of his. I think he is fantastic. Not just now, young Frank [Lampard] worked with him at Chelsea and spoke so highly of him.

"Frank [Lampard] Senior worked with him at Watford and then went to Reading with him and he used to tell me how good he was. He is spot on I think, you have got to look at the way he has got them playing. I think it is fantastic, I really do."

"I can't speak highly enough of the job he has done there," he said. "He has got players playing that have come from Torquay, they have come from Stockport County, they have come from everywhere. They play, they pass the ball and they take risks on the ball.

"You look at their record this year and the way they have played and the way they have gone about playing. If we could get youth teams playing that way I think the game would be a much better game and we would produce better technical players."

+ all the other talk of Camp Nou style pass and move Very promising  :nod

In the premiership our Stewie had 19 shots on target out of 72. One shot on target every two games is pathetic and the real reason why his stats are rubbish and don't forget none of his shots resulted in goals. His assists stats are so embarrassing that I am amazed that anybody is prepared to try and defend them even in the spurious way that you have tried. This lad is simply not good enough and he certainly contributed to Kenny's downfall.

KK stuck by Downing (as well as others) and it gave FSG the excuse to sack him
This was not the only reason but it was definitely a major factor
