I see Gerrard more as a fox and Alonso more badger and Garcia well he has stoat like qualities

Fowler on the other hand, yes Id love to see him in a red shirt again but dont want the memory of a has been who flopped on his return so mixed emotions although if true that would be the game to go to - his return debut

this is just my view.If fowler is to be brought, i think it is more due to the atmosphere at anfield than what he can bring to the team........ my view only  :D

I have a feeling that those people writing Robbie off as a has-been haven't seem him play this season. For the last couple of seasons, his fitness was way short of where it should have been, and in the handful of games he was playing he was only showing glimpses of his best form (the exception being in the 1-0 defeat against Chelsea last year, when he was absolutely awesome, and could've scored 4 or 5).

This season, he started like a shot, then lost his way slightly as Keegan mixed up his squad, but now to me looks in really good form. His hold up and link up play has been top notch, his awareness and close passing has really messed up defences, and he's putting himself about more than I can remember him ever doing at LFC.

So, the bottom line - see the lad's next 2 or 3 matches, and then come back and make your comments. It's like someone coming along and saying "Gerrard's sh*t" because the last time they saw him was during his dismal run of form which resulted in Houllier dropping him. I really think that Robbie's starting to get his appetite for the game back, and I'd say it's no coincidence that this has happened since word started to spread that he's a consideration for us in the January window.

agree totally.
i echoed the same sentiment in a previous thread. he seems to be pickin it up form-wise. whether that's good enough for us i dont know....lets keep our eye on him.
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

I and others have made the point several times - he's well worth having on your bench. Robbie Fowler will always be a threat in the box.

Say we were to pick up Morientes, you go with him and Baros up front, with Fowler as your third striker to come in if injuries hit.

Plus, when you need a goal in a game, throw on Fowler for half an hour and go with three at the back. The guy can both make and take chances, which coupled with the quality of ball Gerrard and Alonso are capable of would shred defences.

G'won!  :D

i think people are more worried about shattering his Legendary status at the club, by bringin him here and watchin play "alright"   .......me included by the way. i just cant make up my mind.

I'd be a liar if I said I reckon he's going to hammer in 30 goals a season, but now more than ever Fowler is showing that he's got more to his game than scoring goals. He's an excellent foil for a more mobile forward (such as Baros), and he's skilful enough to take a couple of touches to give the midfield time to get in and around the box.

It's the sort of role that Sheringham did so well, and I think that's the way Fowler is going to go as his pace naturally diminishes.

In a squad, I'd happily have both. They can both bring something else to the team, and there's nothing worse than having a bench full of like-for-like players.

When you've got a lead to preserve and you want to give one of the strikers a rest, bring on Mellor.

When you need goals, bring on Fowler.

When you really, really need goals, bring them both on for the last 10 mins.

And let's not forget about Pongolle - he's tricky enough to do a job on the wing, and there's a lot to be said for versatility in the squad. Gerrard, Finnan, Garcia, Kewell, Carra and Traore - all players that are capable of a more than adequate job in at least 2 positions, and when injuries hit that's a real blessing.

Mellor all day.

Mellor has all his best football years ahead of him, he can and is improving and the hunger and desire are there.

Fowler has no hgunger left, his best years are well behind him and he is going backwards in terms of football.
