I heard a rumour today the Americans want to make it a 75,000 seater!!

I'd love that, but surely all the planning cannot suddenly change

all they have to do is break ground to get the first part of the grant so it could just be a big hole in stanley park till the yanks have confirmed which idea they will go for

Where have you heard that mate ?

If thats the case maybe thats why there has not been any press conference yet, as there would be so much extra planning before full confirmation.

I thought they had ruled out anything above 60,000 as its over the capacity of the area (it would put too much pressure on local transport etc.).

I seem to remember reading something that said that if we wanted to build a bigger capacity stadium we would have had to look elsewhere.

why can't they improve the local transport system instead of making it a limiting factor?   :Oo:

all planning decisions are very flexible if enough cash is being waved around. if we get it up to 75k then expect the council planning commitee to enjoy very nice holidays in barbados this summer

your right by the way, so far there drilling bore holes to test the ground and building a compound to hold supplys.

the ground should be atleast 70k, i dont want us to move but i have to accept that its going to happen, therefore we should make it the biggest and best that we can, the guys in charge now know about stadiums so even if it gets delayed another season or two surely thats better than ending up with something to small and regretting it. also before they do start work we need to see the final design and whether or not we get a kop like we have now, of all the concerns ive read this is the one most fans want sorting.

For a long time I've been scratching my head over it being a 65,000 seater, we could easily fill 70,000, 65k isn't exactly ground breaking :(

Looks like it's alll coming together now
