It's worth remembering that the likes of Babel are NOT playing reserve team football when they are not seeing much time in the first team, same goes for the likes of Lucas and Bennayoun. It's tougher to turn it on when your rusty and haven't got a lot of football or form under your belt.

I agree but what is the excuse for his lack of desire? At least Benayoun who
is incredibly frustrating get's stuck in and has a go even if he does fk up a lot of the time.

Not going to comment on Lucas - I just do not know how you can make excuses for possibly one of the worst players ever to wear the shirt!

I hate to be negative or critical but certain players either lack ability or desire and that might just cost us any chance of the title!

Oh dear Young has scored for Villa against the BS - final result 3-2 to Villa !!

reina - superb important save from Pedersen; doubtful if we can get 3 pts if go behind.
arbeloa - did his job; solid and occasional assist; clever.
carra - not under pressure, comfortable alongside Hyppia.
hyppia - very useful against physical team; win nearly every air battle; at this moment i m more confident in Hyppia than Agger.
insua - my discovery yesterday; defensively not worse than dossena / aurelio; aurelio is better is attack / freekick; like to see him more in the left back position.
marsch - ok performance, about to take a rest though.
gerrard - tbh, any poor performance (after west ham); should be rested; time to experiment (w/o SG) in midfield
alonso - superb; one to raise the team when needed; direct traffic neatly; if SG is rested, xabi can shoulder more responsibility in both attack and defence; we are lucky to have two very complete players in SG and xabi; too much 100-yard shot though.
Benayoun - good at keeping the ball and running at defenders; expertly skipped past warnock and finish 2nd goal; deserve more chances.
babel - not effective; but i m confident in his speed and "potential"; not yet my "start-11" choice but deserve as an impact players when opponent is tired.
kuyt - another player losing his early season form; if continue for 1-2 matches; suggest to rest him.

El zhar - comfortable with the ball, good at create chaos in penalty area.
lucas - ok; tbh, cannot recall what he's done.
riera - good pass for the third goal; lethal (when he is fresh).

- 1st goal was off a Kuyt deflection.
- 2nd goal Kuyt showed great vision and execution to hit up Benayoun
- 3rd goal Kuyt put El Zhar through

he also got the final pass to bena in 1H, which bena failed to score...

Doesn't matter mate - as far as some of the visionaries on here are concerned he will always be :censored: - shame on them - HE'S GOT THE DESIRE - just wish he give it to a few of the others!
