Deffo a tough game this..... Both McCarthy and Santa Cruz have been playing really well and the way bleedin' Mark Hughes has his team set up always means that we may have more injuries... something we simply cannot afford at the mo... we have to many injuries as it is

I'm looking forward to this, as for some strange reason, I have a good feeling bout today's game. But we must take the game to Blackburn.... Just hoofing the ball about is not gonna be good enough. This is how I'd have the team.

Unless Agger and Kewell are fit again, in which case a classic 4-4-2 with Babel pushing forward to support crouch and drop Lucas.
Hyypia to be replaced by Agger goes without saying....

Pennant is out for the year mate. And Agger definitely won't be ready either, I read somewhere that he still needs about 10-16 days before he's ready unfortunately (read it a couple of days ago). I like your team otherwise though, would just stick in Benayoun instead of Pennant.

Interesting formation, having momo and Masch shoring up the midfield, I expect to see the Gerrard, Babel, Kuyt combo causing some nightmares.

hope Babel is playing in an advanced role - Kuyt doesn't offer that much on his own

Your welcome   Pennant had to have an operation for some problem, which had been nagging him for weeks. Can't remember what it was tbh though.

Regarding todays team, it looks as if the formation for today looks like the one you (and others) suggested, only not with quite the same players:
