Best goals

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Flashard » Fri Mar 17, 2006 5:12 pm

Ok this is my first post and would like to start it up beat.

What is your all time best goal.
Mine has to be the night we all thought we had made a mess in our pants when Stevie G hit a screamer againt
Olympiacos (spelt wrong) for us to win 3-1. The rest well is folk law. The sheer energy that night was great. Although Garcia's against Chelsea is close for first choice as well. :buttrock

Almost impossible to answer this one. Especially if you've been supporting the club for many years. The two goals that stand out for me are Owen's 2nd goal in the Cup Final and Smicers' low skidding rocket in Istanbul.

I remember so little about that FA Cup final against Arsenal despite watching it again sober since the day. We'd played so poorly and i had just about accepted that we had lost to the better team. Owen gets his first and we're all in rapture and fancy our chances in extra-time and then BANG. He's won us the bloody game. So drunk, so disbelieving and Soooo happy. What a day.

As for Smicer's goal. Gerrard had given us a glimmer of hope but really i was simply consoled that the boys were'nt going to be humiliated after all. But then Smicer's rocket from nowhere changed everything. One moment i'm just happy the boys have got us abit of pride back and then BANG. It's come ya bast.ards it's game well and truly fuc.kin on!!!!!! What a goal what a night. :)  :D

Too hard to pick just one goal, but here's a few:

McManaman vs Celtic

Barnes vs Everton (4-4 FA Cup tie)

JAR vs United (THAT free kick)

McAllister vs Everton (although keeper's positioning had to be questioned, the goal still looked great)

After that, ther's so many from the european campaign last season - Garcia v Juve, Gerrard v Olympiacos, all the goals from the final are unforgetable.

Gerrard v Boro last season was a special strike, even if it turned out to be meaningless.

What about Stan in the 4-3 against Newcastle some years ago?? I still remember the drama. The pub was lifted off the floor when that went in! Absolute bedlam!

Michael Thomas from the corner of the box at Wembley against sunderland, over the shoulder and straight in. BEAUTY.

You've hit the nail on the head there El Stinger.

Probably the best six Liverpool goals this century given the importance of them.

Due to the history and overwhelming success of our wonderful club, I think it would be impossible to pick "the best of all", it would be easier to pick the best goal scored against us. Mine would be Tony Yeboah - Leeds '95.

Mine was against Liverpool. It was Tony Yeboa for Leeds. Amazing goal, one of the best first time volleys ever in my opinion & about 25 yards too. Diggers against Everton, or AKA Kennys last game was a good one too. Ian Rush in 88 to win the league against QPR was very good.
