The best goal i ever saw has to be Terry McDermott's header against Spurs in 1978 in that famous drubbing. The move itself was just pure football at its best.

Steve McManaman against Celtic was just Diffrent Gravy. it was a great atmosphere and a all time great imo scored a superb solo effort. just wish he stayed at anfeid longer.

It has to be Shaggy's. last min, picks the ball up from outside own box, plays the ball around the player, drifts inside to the halfway line gets to the 18 yrd box and curls a shot with his WRONG foot around the Celtic keeper....PURE GENIUS, I still have the Mirror which did the graphic around 7 yrs ago..ahhh memories

Fowler's rainbow-kick to get away from the defender, then slotting it past the 'keeper Vs Brann SK (I think) in the Cup-Winner's Cup, 1996-97

Collymore's debut goal has to be up there.

Seeing as though I really wasn't sure about the money involved when the deal happened, he shut me up in the most emphatic way imaginable. My jaw was on the floor for about a week after that.

As for the best goal scored against us, Yeboah's goal isn't far away, but I don't think this one will ever be bettered...

That Fowler goal is just utterly wonderful. Saw it a couple of months back for the first time since it happened, and I couldn't help but just jump to my feet and applaud.

Look at the defender. He hasn't a clue what's happened, and Robbie's 10 yards past him before he even knows where he is. :D

Gary McAllister  vs Alves is definately the best goal.. a free kick in the last minute of a cup final.. and what a free kick!!!

Others:
mellor vs Arsenal
gerrard vs olypiacos
garcia vs juventus

robbie fowler vs aston villa 1997/98. cruyff turned staunton and then hit a left foot rocket from about 30 yards. summed up everything fowler was about at that time.

more recently, gerrard vs boro at anfield last season has to be up there.

I'm guessing the goal in question was the much-disputed goalmouth scramble.

More important symbolically than artistically, definitely. :D
