If I understand correctly, Crouch should have started the game even if many if not most people here think "he is not good enough and should be sold as soon as the tranfer window opens"? I think its incredible how fast some people change their point of view around here. The main problem at the moment is we don't have the depth we believe we have. With Xabi and Agger out at the moment, Rafa can't really change the team much at all. Hyppia is past his best, he's a great guy but we really are missing Agger. Mascherano is a great defensive midfielder but that is all he offers, as well as Sissoko. Leiva is basically Gerrard Jr. and without Torres, our strikers are not a threat at all. We need Xabi back to put order in midfield and to be able to vary our game since all our opposition know what to expect from us. We have not changed tactics in a long time, in fact we are not able to. What ever happened to Rafas 4-5-1 we used to see when he came in as manager, or the 3-5-2 formation which usually worked for these types of games? I really want all of our players to be available again, and to be honest, Im hoping Rafa starts rotating the team as he used to and not player for player as he is doing now.

but I thought the depth was supposed to be there now.  Rafa has spent his money and bought this players.  He signed Kuyt, crouch and vorinin.  He signed Mascherano and sissoko.  He signed pennant.  He signed babel and seems to have no real idea with what to do with him

I'll only add that there are things to improve bar this men, we're scoring goals in set pieces situations, we're losing balls that we didn't use to lose when we play at our standard form.

Reina - unlucky, no chance for any of the goals
Finnan - Poor distribution, not his usual standard
Carra - Immense again, covering for poor Sami
Hypia - unfortunately looks like he has played too many games - some rotation needed
Risse - Didn't do anything
Pennant - Looked good to start`but ran out of ideas
Gerrard - Gave the ball away too much but WHAT A GOAL
Masherano - Looked tired
Babbel - Very enthusiastic, but no end product
Kuyt - Was everywhere except where he needed to be .. in the box
Vronin - Looked out of his depth

Crouch - Needed longer, caused problems when he was on
Yossi - Looked lively, good on the ball, well balanced played well

100 percent agree with you, also thought Lucas looked good when he came on but Benny boy looked the most dangerous. Just hope Torres is fit and plays up front with Crouchie against Arsenal, Benny boy should start and if alonso is not 100% fit I would put in Lucas to play along side Gerrard, then we might see some proper chances created. We need to kick start our season again with a good attacking performance, I'm off with our centre midfield having a strong defensive mentality, lets have some f**king forward drive in there! (just like we did in the last five minutes tonight!!)
