exactly my thougths, where did that figure come from?

Rafael Benitez will be given £40m to spend in the  transfer market this summer, according to newspaper reports.

IMO if Rafa has £40m then I'd deffo spend most of it on a 20+ a season goal scorer like Eto or Villa and the rest on someone like Alves, I think we'd have a great chance of winning the league then cos like Andy Grey said last weekend (I can't believe I'm agreeing with him) that we are only a couple of pieces short of completing the puzzle

I really don't understand why people keep saying "Gerrard needs to be one of a central two" when it's patently obvious that his best form is to be found in the roaming role he had on Saturday, be it starting from the right, or just behind a front 1 or 2.

Gerrard in central midfield weakens our side. Simple as that. It dulls his attacking, and leaves us open to counters as he just will not stick to the defending needed.

Our midfield should follow the following blueprints without exception:

                            Alonso                      Mascherano/Momo

Pennant                                                                                      Aurelio
                                           Gerrard       

Swap Pennant for Alves and we're giggling like a schoolgirl and her first crush.

Regarding the money, I have to say that Villa would only work if we were to play two up top - as would Eto'o.
They could not play the system that battered Arsenal.

I wonder what Rafa has up his sleeve, to be perfectly honest.

I wouldn't be at all suprised to see him avoid them completely and go for a virtual unknown.

But obviously I'd like to see them here!

With the exceptions of Alonso, Fowler, Reina and Luis Garcia none of his sigings have impressed me and Luis Garcia frustrates equally as much as he impresses.

The fact is he's missed out on better players than the ones he's signed and he's wasted far to much money on players like Kuyt and Gonzalez.

Before we judge how well Rafa has spent, what is the success rate for other teams? Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, Villa etc..? They've all spent a sh!tload of cash with very few players turning out to be good buys.

Shevchenko, Ballack, SWP etc.. easily spring to mind and there's 60 million straght away!!

Am Sure the others have players they'd rather not be reminded of..... overall, Rafa's has a better hit rate than Ged did.

Agger
These two are both young and already perminant fixtures in our squad. Kuyt is class, He is a damn hard worker and his intelegence on and off the ball is great, no were near a waste of money

What about Bellamy he is useful, Crouch has done his job
Arbeloa looks good.

Ok Josemi, Nunez and Kromkamp were numptys but Nunez was free (part of the owen deal) Kromkamp we directly swapped for Josemi who only cost 2 mill anyway.

Look boyo, I get banned for sayin stuff like that by certain people... So don't start that rubbish with me...

Why I left out Sissoko? Ok, well firstly. The lad's a decent player. But decent doesn't impress me. Decent doesn't improve the team and decent doesn't make us title challengers. The lad is distinctly average on the ball and in a game against Aston Villa this season he let the ball (on a premier league pitch mind...) roll under his foot 3 times in one game. Now I haven't managed that on a sunday league pitch in the last 4 years 3 times, so how is a lad who's being paid 20k a week plus... doing it three times in one game?

He also offers you absoloutely no goal threat what so ever. Absoloutely none. Literally. His ability to retain possession, pick the pass and generally control a ball leave alot to be desired. In terms of winning the ball, tackling, putting players under pressure and work rate. Aswell as his concentration he's exceptional. But theres far better out there. How you can even suggest he's in the top 10 midfielders in the country is absoloutely beyond me, and if you aren't suggesting that then are you suggesting I should be impressed by a player who isn't in the top ten in his position in the country?

... Now onto everyones favourate golden boy Daniel Agger.

Not good enough. End of. The lads a good player yes and is probably good enough as backup or even a second centre half but he's not good enough to allow us to play higher up the pitch or dominate a team arially. He's also not physically great, he isn't particularly fast, he's over eager at times to close down the ball and he's also very sloppy in possession when he brings the ball out from the back. Everyone points to the defensive record we have as an arguement...

We'll I'll point to Alonso, Sissoko Gerrard, All of which are excellent tacklers and very very good ball winners that don't leave a back four exposed. None of which are particularly great going forward which points to our massive problem of scoring 28 (give or take one or two) less goals than United in the league while conceeding a similar amount. I'll also point to excellent tactics getting the best out of players with good defensive ability in Carragher, Finnan, Aurelio, Hyypia, Reina and Riise.

You then go onto Bellamy... Yes Bellamy is "useful" I totally agree. Usefull doesn't mean impressive. Especially when he could have had the brilliant Anelka for a couple of million more...

Arbeloa has looked solid... but again I'm not 100% convinced he's better than Steven Finnan, certainly technically he isn't.

You then Mention Crouch, who's done ok yes, but I put forward the Dean Ashton arguement, a better player at EVERYTHING and cost the same price...

with his "immense work rate" and what? 10 goals? I'm sorry but the lads rediculously overated by Liverpool fans. He's intelligent yes, he's not a bad player and probably has more ability than Crouch but he doesn't fit into Liverpools style at all. Out of him and Bellamy I'd take Bellamy every time. Kuyt isn't a 20 goal a season striker, he doesn't attack the front post, he is woeful at heading a ball, i'd go as far to say as he's probably as bad as Pennant in the air (maybe a slight exageration) and he offers very very little in terms of a goal threat. His first touch is also very very suspect on occassions. For me, one of the reason's we're nowhere near as good a team as last season is due to Kuyt replacing Fowler. If I'm honest, I'd raher Morientes than Kuyt, but due to the boo boys who wanted Morientes to fail that wouldn't be a popular shout.

Now I suggest, that next time you make a suggestion about me thinking about what I post. You do the same.
