Benitez lining up duff - Today's mirror

According to today's Mirror, Liverpool are going to bid for Duff this week now that Smicer will be out for 6 months.  £15million is the price quoted.

Any truth in this or just paper thrash ?

I do not think Liverpool will spend 15 million for one player. The transfer market is almost dead, and prices have dropped significantly. Duff is not worth half that amount. Plus left midfield is not first priority.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

According to the Mirror's story, Liverpool will sell Baros for 12 million and possibly Hamann for 5 million to fund the deal.

We'd be crazy to sell Baros, especially the way Owen is missing chances :(

Selling Baros would be a major mistake,I hope there is not substance in the story.

A deal for Duff has to be without reducing our own attacking options.

I think Duff would be more useful to our squad than Baros currently, but if he sells Hamann he'll need to replace him too...

As a serious newspaper, the Mirror is only second to the Sun in the low credibility/believability stakes...

Duff's agent has stated that Duff has no interest in returning to the north west (of england ) , he is adamant that Duff is staying at Chelski .
Anyway lads I'm happy that he's not coming, Duff had a miserable season and a couple of injuries plus we have more immediate problems to sort out if we are going to make further signings , i.e. midfield, right mid/wing and central defence. :(

Woof Woof ... shouldn't that be : Duff had a miserable season because of injuries .... when he wasn't injured you could see the impact he had for Chelsea .... apart from Lampard , I thought Duff was Chelsea's best player last season (when he played of course)

They really missed him against Monaco.   If he were there in the first or second leg I think chelsea and porto would have been the CL finalists last year.

I can't belive i'm saying this but......... Biscan looks a different player in midfield and is getting rave reveiws from the manager and coaching staff!!!

Fair comment.
However as he's not coming (according to his agent) it's all irrelevant.Like I said we've other problem positions that need to be sorted first .  :)
