I have just got a look at our entire squad for next season
I'm Liverpool through and through
however
I only found out of our entire squad 14 players worth bothering with and some of them are squad not first team players
If we keep with what we have i believe we will finish 4th in the league
reasons for this
Strike force Owen and Baros excellent Cisse ill judge him when i see him in the premiership
midfield Kewell Gerrard excellent murphy squad player the rest are average at best. Dietmar good but a wasted position in my opinion)
Defence we need a centre back
goal keepers no problem
i look at chelsea arsenal and scum and they just seem better
hope im wrong hope manager sighns players

I agree. The squad is not very strong. Fooliers signings have made us suffer both off (financially) and on the pitch. Benitez needs time to remedy this. My biggest worry is the lack of pace and strenght in key areas. To think that we will win the league, or mount a serious challenge this season, is wishful thinking. Realistically Benitez needs two - four years to build a strong team.

Dav does that mean you think the likes of Hyypia, Riise, Pongolle, Le Tallec, Henchoz and Finnan are just average players??

Pongolle and Le Tallec are talents. The rest are decent players. None of them are great. Campbell and Ferdinand are great. Hyypia although good in the air is too slow and clumsy. Finnan, why rate him? He has not proven anything yet. Henchoz? Nice lad. Riise? Maybe if he can recapture his early form. I do not think these players are bad. I just doubt they are championship material. And LFC should be winning throphies. We should have Ronaldos, Lucios, Campbells, Vieiras not Biscans, Finnans, Diaos.

I think Finnan didnt have a great season and looked a little suspect whilst being under pressure but can still make the right back slot his own. Hyypia does lack pace but to call him clumsy? I would only give that label to Traore! What Sami needs is a centre back alongside him with pace. Riise is quality who went through a bad spell but has got what it takes to be in Rafa's new Liverpool.

We have already made 2 huge signings in Benitez and Cisse who are massive improvements on heskey and houllier.

I believe we have the right man to bring us the title and with 2 or 3 quality signings in defence and midfield we will be a match for anyone.

Benitez is a winner and I just hope he is given enough funds to sign the quality we need.

traore is a joke, why even bother putting him in a friendly against Wrexham? Finan was very poor for my money last year. Biscan is a liability, Smicer flits, Murphy lacks class and I think Henchoz has had his best days. But we have two good keepers, Sami is a fabulous player made to look average last season as he was trying to do the job of two centre halves and with Kewell, Gerrard and our forwards we have the backbone of a good side. Another centre half and right sided midfielders are a must. I would also look at both full back positions and a central midfielder. But to get those 5 players would be way beyond our resources. I think the best we can hope for is maybe 3rd ahead of Man Utd and poss strengthen more next year.

Not a lot to disagree with you there Charwell......... Which is exactly why Benitez won't start the season with the squad we have at present.

I'm stick my neck out and say that we will sign at least 2 major acquisitiosn before the start of season 20004/05. I half expect one to be Ballack and the other possibly a centre Back .....

Finnan isnt even worth talkin about, he is one of the worse players and he gets a game all the time. Tonight Liverpool showed that we do have some good young players coming through the ranks, whether or not they make the grade, who knows, but a new centre half is a must!

we do need new signings but if rafa decides to wait for the transfer window to open in january, i wont be too concerned. an adequate defence of riise, carra, hyypia and finnan, a decent midfield and arguably the best strike force in england along with the competition for places an optimism that the arrival of benitez has added to the squad.

but if the lad signs a few quality players sher all the better!

Finnan needs to go, maybe Carragher could fill in at centre half, and we get a new right back? think i prefer Carragher on the right although at the end of last yr he did play well in centre half.

Liverpool need Ballack or Baraja some1 like that.

finnan WILL have a good season this year, he just needs a second bite of the cherry. he was unlucky with injury last season but i think wit the right preparation he'll be on the way to becoming a class prem'ship right back

hope so lad, but he is gettin on a bit like innit, leavin it a bit late, carragher is better anyway. Finnan doesnt even know how to cross a ball plus he is a bad fart

carra is better-more consistent and will die for the jersey every time. but finnan still has a lot to offer for liverpool. hes not that old, is he...?
