Mellor and Pongolle are 22 and 20, if were not going to use them even when are two main strikers are out then what is the point of them being at the the club?

People have been mentioning emergency strikers left right and centre, even talking about playing Gerrard up front, some one even mentioned Romario.

I am sure Benitiez will start with either Mellor or Pongolle, my point was aimed at some fans who have has a knee jerk reaction to Baros's injury.

with all this injury, i recon it is the perfect chance to give the youngster/back-up players a chance like Mellor and Pongolle to show what they can really do...espeacilly when we are a bit underachieing {im sorry to say :( } you never know they might turn out to be another wonderkid  :D

I don't know whether Mellor or Pongolle will turn out to be wonder kids, but at least we can see if they are good enough toplay for this club, there is no point players hanging around if their not good enough.

well true we really need a reliable and consistance striker at the moment, or maybe we can play 5 in midfield instead of 4 to give us more control of the game. john welsh or igor could be played as a extra central midfielder!

i think a more 4-5-1 formation would be good for us for a while mellor or sin-pong up front with kewell or garcia coming in from either side of midfiled to support.; could pull defenders all over the place and leave room for stevie or alonso to go storming through the middle

 Good call mate, I also think rafa will play one up front as if mellor or pongo, got injured what then ??? .
Its time for Pongo, Mellor,Harry, and Garcia to find the back of the net.
Because how many shots on goal have they been missing to many for my likeing. I dont include mellor in that.

Im not so sure about a 4-5-1 formation, we will most likely go for a 4-4-1-1. And that is the formation I prefer.

I don't like the idea of Garcia playing on the right, espically away.

That could be a real problem for us as Queudreu,Downing and Zenden will take adantage of this and poor old Josmei will look bad because of the deficancies of the formation.

1-1-2-2-3-1-12--1-12-31-123-123-

****** HELL!!!!

formations are for mindless ****** who think they know there stuff.

dont' get all ****** technical or we'll start referening to the 4-4-2 as a 2-2w,2,2w2, and the 4-5-1 as a 2,2w,2,2w+1 off 1.

****** STOP BEING PEDANTIC.

4-4-2 is 4 defenders, 4 midfielders, 2 strikers which we've played EVERY GAME THIS SEASON!!!

All this 4-4-1-1 ****** is annoying.

Rant over.

I would play Biscan in some of these upcoming games otherwise Gerrard and Alonso are going to have a burn out,
I would prefer Finnan than Josemi tomorrow, oh well we shall have to wait and see the managers not stupid just hope the team performs like he expects and what the fans expect.
Last season we where without owen, Baros, Heskey all injured and we still got 4th and we where very boring, now we are creating more chances and we have 2 gems in Alonso and Gerrard not just one.
Only difference is boro, bolton, and everton are playing some good solid football and there is a lot of competition now of sort of feeling like, oh we are f@ckin sick of them top 4 always getting in the CL, And us always bein the underdogs.

We lost Owen though who was a bit more than a gem. He was the best player at the club.
