Are you serious?  On what evidence do you think we should have kept Morientes.

There is no doubting that he is a quality player but our style of play didnt suit him and he admitted himself that the PL was too physical for him.

We had no option to sell him unfortunately, it just didnt work out.

His goalscoring record in Europe.

but not his goalscoring in the english prem then

Obviously not.

thank god

either way its just silly to say morientes is the best striker in the world. He is defintely a class striker, proved consistently before his arrival, and has showed again so far, since leving. but the best?? no chance

Inter is way overrated and Adriano is having a torrid time. Roma relies too much on Totti and have been pretty inconsisten in Europe. Lille does not appear to be really strong, despite there being no easy games any longer at this stage of the CL.

Celtic would be really fired up and they'd play very physicaly and just ned a dead ball from a good enough angle for Nakumura, and then they'd close shop and hang on to dear life. Barca would be difficult as I think Ronaldinho will be in better form come Feb. Real Madrid would be easier than Barca but they are also improving in organisation now that the rigid Capello has had a few months on the job.

Adriano doesnt even start now.  Inter have done great this season without Adriano.  Crespo has been awesome and Ibrahomovic has at last come back into form showing his quality.    Viera in his 2nd season in Seria A is now back to his old self and has been immense for Inter.  I have to give it to Manchini as I thought he was under huge pressure and could buckle but his doing the business at the moment.

Not sure what Celtic team u watch but Strachan never gets them playing in a way where they nick a goal and then just try and hang on.  No matter who they get they will try and attack.

Why do people want Barcelona.  The best side in Europe in round 2.  No thanks.  This is a side who have no messi, no eto, no saviola, no edmilson but still are scoring plenty goals and Ronaldinho is now back on form.  Gudjohnson is scoring goals, Iniesta has been excellent and on there day can wipe the floor with anyone.  Granted you have to beat the best but no way would I like them in the next round.

i agree with lando's post earlier in this thread, we definately need a draw where we are considered underdogs in the next round. I really hope we avoid Centic until at least the 1/4's, otherwise i can envisage us struggling against them. I still remember that scabby free-kick by Thompson putting us out of the UEFA cup a few years back (my mate, a celtic fan, hasn't let me forget it tbh).

I hope we get one of the 'big-guns' next round, i think we can beat any of them and, when we do, i think the momentum we gather from that could take us all the way again - bring on No. 6!!!!

He's the sole reason Raul is seen as a legend. He is vastly underrated, always has been, always will be, I notice what he brings to the team and that's a lot more than a lot of strikers.

I am a AS Roma fan, but don't live in Italy. Believe me when I say they want you, they want you bad. Roma is able to play very fine football, and are surely not depending on Totti alone anymore. It is a team, and with our starting 11 we can beat anyone. It is true that we have a thin bench, I'm hoping for a nice january market, but whatever happens, I'm sure we are up for it. It'll be an interesting battle between Gerrard and De Rossi.

My take is that....it does not really matter who we face.

I mean losing in the round of 16 is not much different than losing in the semi IMO...

I am hoping to get barcelona myself...I am sure rafa will have some tricks up his sleeve on getting past them.
