BARCELONA 1-2 LIVERPOOL - ALL REACTION HERE......

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Rijkaard plays the way of the great dutch sides.  4-3-3 with or without the ball.  Even if he goes to Milan he will play that way as he believes in that system.  To be honest 2 La Liga titles back to back and CL trophy suggest he hasnt done too badly.

Barca are playing Real Zaragoza in Copa del Rey. Zaragoza won the first leg 1-0.

20 minutes gone and Barca are up 2-0 thanks to Xavi and Iniesta. They're finding form again at the right time.

They're showing character all right, showing ability to come back from being down in two legged affair.

Their system is different tonight, 3-4-3.

Elsewhere Real Betis v Sevilla, has been delayed. Sevilla's manager has been hit by an object and knocked out cold. Then the Betis fans threw :censored: at the ambulance that he was in

Terrible defending from Zaragoza, shouldn't had conceded either of the goals.

Zaragoza have scored. 1-2 now.

So it's 2-2 on aggregate now, does it mean extra-time? Or do away goals count?

It finished 1-2, and Barca go through.

Barca are getting back to their old self. We can't allow them to score early goals or we will be f#cked.

Watched the first half and Barca where fantastic, superb movement all over the pitch and Messi was looking back to his best, he never gives the ball away no matter where he is or how difficult a position his team mates put him in, and some of the challenges he was taking from Diogo without going down put some of his team mates to shame.
Xavi's goal was superb a one two with Marquez...who didnt look too hot (often being caught in posession) then a little nutmeg followed by a cool finish.
The second again showing Messi's strength after a cushion pass in behind the defence from Deco, Messi held off the defender to get his shot in...just, which th keeper parried for Iniesta to volley over him into the empty net (after Diogo seemed to fall over for no reason).

There were plus points though, as Zaragoza got through pretty easily, especially down the left as Barca played 3 centre backs so there was loads of space down the wings, they hit the bar through Sergio Garcia from range, then Oscar missed a sitter from about 6 yards that he should of buried.
Deco looked a bit off the pace and Eto didnt play so he didnt get anymore match fitness, although he is a certainty to be involved against Sevilla over the weekend.

All in all i suppose it didnt really tell me anything new, Barca are fantastic with the ball and going forward can score at any time through numerous sources but without the ball they dont get back quck enough and can get caught out on the counter pretty easily.
I didnt watch the second half as i had to be up early for work today so cant comment on that.

I cannot wait until the next game now.

I dont know how Messi does it.  His 1st touch is superb, close control awesome and his balance is out of this world.

Just shows how stupid that Argentine coach was in the WC when he never played him v Germany.

I dont usually like comparing players with past or present ones but i really think Messi is the closest thing to Diego Maradona that i have seen.

There was one moment last night where he was wide right, one of his team mates played it into his feet and he had two men right on him, he swivelled seemed to lose control but got his body in the way and stopped it with his thigh, another player then charged in and he turned inside him and laid it off leaving the 3 of them behind, absolute genius the lad is.

Stick to running through jungles of your sh!te country, d!ckhead.

As Ace said, Messi has fantastic control when he's on the ball and despite his size he gets past players with ease.

When I first saw him at the World Youth Championship for Argentina, he was fantastic, no one could stop him. What a player is and the scary thing is that Barca have another two superstars in the making in their B squad.

First win away in three months.  Lucky to get off the hook a couple of times in the second half.  Things are slightly better, but we still need to improve to beat Sevilla away.

4 finals in 10 days, one down, three to go.  I would happily lose all three if it meant we are guarenteed a win against the white scum *spit*.

Will you continue using the 3-4-3 formation in order to prepare for us, or do you think that you'll go back to 4-3-3?
