BARCELONA 1-2 LIVERPOOL - ALL REACTION HERE......

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Barcelona press is both dissapointed and not confident. They remember they have never come back from a 1-2 and seem not to be condifent in doing so.

Barcelona's press points out that the behaviour of Liverpool fans was quite correct. They remember that when Schalke and Chelsea came there were no less than 12 arrests, meanwhile this time the wasn't that many (zero acording to the press). The more important incident was Liverpool fans grabing an Arab citizen and throwing him into a Fountain, the reporter covering this article saw it. In the mean time Ian, an Irish red tried to explain to the journo that "normally we're not like that" to try to apologise for the fountain incident.

Both the Madrid and Barcelona press agree to highlight the good defensive order we displayed, and some even said it was a well deserved victory.

Other than that, there were not troubles with the 5000 reds with ticket and 1000 without ticket, and so it's reckoned in the press. :)

True, Sabre.

If we read the first part of this topic you'll see loads of Barcelona fans saying they will destroy us, and a long debate that they should respect our team. Now let's not make the same mistake, let's show them the respect they earned by winning the CL last year - they can not be taken lightly. We are the best fans in the world - let's show it when winning, not only when losing.

Even if some Barcelona players are b*stards (especially with the diving and begging) and if media spoils them (at least in Romania the comentators had their tongue stuck in their as*es), they are good footballers and if they have a good day anything can happen. And it is sure they can score from nothing - add our shaken defense and you'll see we need to stay focused in the second leg as well.

If we analyse cool-headed the game last night, we had a very bad half-an-hour, since min 10 (I thought the start was very good for us, with some good positive atitude and also taking the home side by surprise - until some sloppy defending started the pressure capitalized by Barcelona's goal) to min 40, and if the opposition would have been in better form, it would be the Barca fans singing now.

However, the second half I thought was much more ours, there was one stat displayed at one moment, just after Riise's goal - it said in 30 min  Barca had a possession of 62-38 but the shots on goal were 1-3.  This just shows just how good we were in that part. Obviously having Momo in great form was very useful particularly in that period of the game. In the end, except for Reina's three mistakes in less than a minute, Liverpool looked very solid and had the best chance of the game with Kuyt's header touching the crossbar.

One more thing - if the ref would have not given so many fouls for Barcelona we would have had much more opportunities for counterattack. Hopefully at Anfield Momo will be fit and the ref will leave the game more open, I expect Bellamy to give the weak Barcelona defence some scaring runs. Might help if he has a small portable club with him  :D sorry could not help it. I think the celebration showed there was much less of a story than first stated by the media - otherwise even a bast*rd would not make that gesture in public.

Come on Reds - the 6th is waiting for us !!!

We were better in the second half. I rate highly how we defend, I've said that several times, we defend better than all the teams of la liga, it's a pleasure to watch us pressing. But Barcelona was reckless or rash, don't know what's the exact word. Rijkaard showed respect towards Liverpool with his words, but he didn't respect Liverpool on the pitch. If you have just one defensive midfielder to hold your team, and you substitute him to put Iniesta, who defends fúck all, it means you will have defensive problems. And they had. They simply went mad with our goal, they forgot about there's still another game and went to find the second taking FAR TOO MANY risks.

With men like Sissoko who recovered more than 12 balls according to the match stats, Barcelona dug their own tomb. Don't understand this as I'm underrating what we did, on the contrary, it was our good work the one that made them lost their calmness.

Rijkaard showed no composure nor any basic tactics ability.

Correct, Sabre, I have to admit I was surprised because I rated Rijkaard and thought he was better than that.

Overall, it was a good performance by Liverpool, and I liked best the first 10 minutes when I felt Barcelona were totally outplayed. Good thing we came from the back as well - which we haven't done for a long time.

A.B. wrote:What an amazing result! I would had taken a 1-1 or 0-0 draw if you asked me before the game but this was more than I expected.

We took our chances and punished Barca for their mistakes. However, we did have some luck through out the match. With that being said, we contained them a hell of a lot better than I expected to and we played better defensively than I thought we would.

Everybody who is saying that Barca won't score 2 goals at Anfield needs their head checked.

Could you see Arsenal beating us 3-1 at Anfield or 6-3? Could you f#ck. Could you see Benfica beating us 0-2 at Anfield too? Could you f#ck.

Could you see us losing 3-1 at Anfield against Barca a couple of years ago? Could you f#ck.

While this win should be enjoyed we should do some with some perspective. This isn't any team, this is the defending La Liga and Champions League Champions who have destroyed teams in the past [as our captain pointed out after the game].

It just too good to be true and maybe I'm being too negative but football is a b!tch at times.

Many were expecting that we would get our asses handed to us at the Nou Camp and that didn't happen. Now those same two faced f#cks are saying that Barca can't score at Anfield.

B#llocks. True we've kept out Chelsea and Juventus out at Anfield in this very competition, but Barca are on another level.

very true. i went to bed and woke up smiling, our boys did fantastically well, and the result should be enjoyed.

However as many other people have said, its only half time and the war is not won yet. I think barca will score at anfield, so we too need to score and it will be a harder match.

Congratulations Liverpool and fans, first half I thought Barca would win but Liverpool did well in the 2nd half. Hopefully we meet again in the CL , couldnt come to Anfield Road during the group stage but I'd be really looking forward to it :;):

Completely agree. After Bellamy scored Rijkaard seemed to panic a bit and it looked as if he wanted to win the game at all costs. Maybe he wasn't showing us respect or maybe he was showing us too much respect. Maybe he thinks that Barca had to win last night because he knows our record at Anfield. He just seemed to put every attacking player he had on and play straight into our hands. I bet their were a few premiership managers watching the game last night cringing at the substitutions he made, probably realising what was going to happen.

FANTASTIC RESULT !!! Just watched it.

But I have to get this off my chest. Watching Barcelona, made me remember why I DONT watch football on the continent. Not just because its slow, but mainly because the refs on the continent are conned by these pre-madonna's IT :censored:E>D ME OFF   Thats a s.hithouse sport played over there, the game stop starts, players fall over, its f.ucking ridiculous. Total non contact sport over there that is.

Rant over.

The result was excellent and the team did their job, Bara didnt impress me at all. I thought Finnan had a good game and Carra. Kuyt was frustrating.

I wonder what Rafa's game plan will be at Anfield ?

BTW Loved Bellamys goal celebration   :D

Nice to see a Barca fan with a bit of humility, unlike that bitter tw@t Larsson. Fair play.

We're still gonna spank you at Anfield though  :rasp

Hey Larsson where are you my friend?  :D

Is it true Stevie was being spat on by Barca fans. If so that it disgraceful and someone should file a complaint with UEFA.
