I take it you relish the prospect of Ronaldinho vs. Hyypia ?? Or Eto'o ??
Wake up and smell the coffee, my friend.
I'd like to think we'll give it a lash, but despite wanting LFC to progress, I think it's too early to meet Barca. Perhaps after we put a sustained run together....but methinks it's too soon....

Point taken BarryBelfast.....but he only has to shine for 10 secs in any game, and he'll put one past you....The man is a slippery little turd....you just never know what he's gonna do....What I'd like to see, is not a determined effort to foul the geeza, but a few fair, crunching, hard tackles early on....let him know you're there; spoil his game right from the off....

And when would be the right time to face them?

If we're gonna win the competition, we're gonna have to play one or two of the big guns somewhere along the way. Personally I'd rather a tie like this than a potential banana skin like Porto or Lille.

Ronaldinho vs. Hyypia is not something i look forward too either... its just the prospect of liverpool advancing to the next stage through Barcelona that excites me.

Weve got 2 advantages Rafa knows these inside out, and return leg at Anfield.
Down side Eto and Messi will be back  :sniffle

its possibly the best tie we could have gained in terms of the players keeping focus, throughout the winter Premiership campaign...and who knows

I'm not to bothered about the draw TBH, if I'm right the second leg is at home and thats a plus. And we've got more on our plate until February. IMO that will NOT keep the players focused, after a couple of days the excitment of the  draw should be out their system, so the can and should concerntrate on whats ahead. Until Feb, thats prodominantly the Prem and until then thats all I'll be worried about.

I disagree... i feel the players will of course remain professional through out. But given the prospect of them facing the likes of Lille or Porto etc..im certain they'd much rather be playing in and winning ANY knock-out tie, thats true.  but to have the prospect of a match up against the last 2 seasons CL winners...thrown in to the equation... Hell! that is what the greater majority of them play the game for..they're human beings as well as exponents of their art too.  God! who wouldnt get excited over a game like that...maybe there's too much Champ manager type mentality around 'fans' now.  These games do not come round every week. But in terms of ambition and a fully fit, competitive squad (which by the grace of god there will be, fingers crossed) each and every man jack of them will be hoping for a piece of the action, and a reassuring 'wink' from the gaffer nearer the time) And how will the manager decide his squad?....certainly not by those who arent ar5ed, mentally unready or unfit.  If i was Rafa Benitez id be expecting a top performance in every game, starting tomorrow...including Barcelona...and right up til the end of the bloody season! from here on in.  Because lets face it, up until a fortnight ago things were very grim and out of sync.... For the 'point' i made had more of a nod in the direction of some psychological 'lift', or, if you prefer, a challenge to be built up toward and maintained afterwards. (Never mind - its different in Europe - its all the same game, with varying shades of reward and tactics employed to overcome whats placed infront of you)  Its no good taking poor form from the league over to spain..confidence will have to be as high as ever.... you dont get that by moping about, worrying and half-heartedly conceding defeat before a ball is kicked in anger.  Or by, getting round to it at some stage...when its nearer the time. You build gradually up to a point were, 'form' is sustainable and reliable enough to step into the Camp Nou, with all focus and energies trained on standing firmly together as a 'team', holding parity in the game and repelling the opposition, given the chance.  Remember the winning mentality and where its origin stems from. Not overnight, thats for sure.

Your telling me the squad will engender that frame of mind sometime after the previous league matches...when the time is right?  For the record Liverpool are scheduled to play Everton at Anfield a fortnight or so before the 1st leg in Spain. They then play United, again at Anfield on the first weekend in March, days prior to the return. So some degree of consistency will definately have to of been reached regardless. (presuming the 'Derbies' go to plan and there are no casualties of course, anyway)  Before you fire back at me..iam fully aware that each game is taken step by step. Benitez is the master of that doctrine.  But, he is also attempting to take this club as far as he is able.  An onus will be thrust upon Rafa's shoulders to handle that 'pandora's box' with his own due dilligence because the spying, prying eyes of the world will shortly fall upon our club due to the takeover.  The significance of that,  is that by then, the club will have changed ownership (if not already well established) They are going to want to see their investment secured on and off the pitch. The entire club will be under scrutiny in dealing with all the factors involved. There is now a massive, gaping window of opportunity for the worlds media to cash in on the 'uber-hype' this game will generate. Believe me, this will be gargantuan for both Liverpool Football club and UEFA's stock - As it will of course for D.I.C's profile.  That can also hold much pressure and have a detrimental effect on the weak-willed, conversely its true... Though im beginning to suspect there are very few of those type of characters left at the club now. You'd certainly hope so anyway..For me there has been much to complain about so far, into this campaign. At the end of term report, next May. you will be able to ascertain 2 clear 'watersheds' in the timeline of this 2006/07 season... The Takeover and the Barcelona CL tie.. Both will eventually shape the whole picture come the summer, including the level of further investment given to the manager during the transfer market. Its not only a point of 'focus' the club will steer its ship towards in prospecting the safe passage through to the 2nd round..its vital to the premiership campaigns in the near future, that the club is both physically and mentally strong enough, to deal with the added responsibilities. Focus is instrumental throughout the whole career of all players, coaches, managers, medical and support staff.  Right up from the kitman to the Board. To be able to turn it on and off like a tap specifically, is a convenience only afforded to the blase and the dissaffected. Liverpool FC are far from that. Focus, intent, cohesion, desire and outright ability, are all virtues belonging to the mindset of winners; with which this club is gaining momentum through, day by day.

inconsistent?  His only been the best player in the world for the last 3 years.  He had a slight dip in form at the start of the season but now his back to his best and since Eto and Messi have been injured Dinho has been fantastic week in week out.

Talkin' seriously, Liverpool has nothing to do with Barcelona.
Eto'o and Messi will be ready on January and they will be ready and able to break livers' asses. Nowadays, Liverpool is such a weak team as a first division spanish team ( malaga, ponferradina,...). In Liverpool plays Luis Garcia a player that we fired. He hadn't enough level to play for us.
It would be easy to go through the next round. We have been very lucky and I can see clearly "la tercera" (the third).
Liverpool won't be a stone in the way. It's weaker than Barcelona. You don't have any chance. Welcome to the real world. Barcelona today it's a party!!
