Of course it is very sad that we got knocked out of the Champions League, especially against one of the lesser sides in that particular manner.

But there is a lot to play for. 2nd spot must be the target in the league, it is a realistic possibility and would mean automatic qualification into the Champions League and an extra 2 weeks off in the summer. Gary Neville mentioned this week how desperate he is to get automatic qualification because the qualifiers are such a huge disruption to pre season planning, it is more important that some people think because it allows you to budget your transfer funds because you know that money is guaranteed.

Also let us not forget the FA Cup quarterfinal. Only 3 games away from another cup, with Birmingham in the next round. So that is a realistic possibility.

So still plenty to look forward to this season.
