Maybe Rafa wants to sound like he still wants him and thus can ask for more in return. Just read that Real Madrid may pay 15million pound to get Babbel as a replacement for Van horse face.

That's what happens when you don't get enough game time and you're not being trained properly.  Babel needs to find a more offensive team in order to improve as a player.  If I was him I'd really consider moving to Madrid if the stories were true.

Let's hope it's true and he does want to move. But not before we get someone else in first unless they want to do an exchange deal.

If Real are stupid enough to offer 15 million for Babel would they also be fool enough to take Dossena for 5 0r 6 million, If they are, Rafa should offer to drive them to Spain on New Year's day.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

The greatest coup of the trip would be to arrive back at Liverpool with Sergio Ramos bound and gagged in the trunk with the stipulation that he will be let out of the trunk if he agrees to a 5 year contract, on a free transfer, for 20 thousand per week.

The Spanish press write the interest is for real, but I haven't seen any mention to the 15 millions figure.

What the Madrid press say is that it probably will be very difficult to get him because Rafa won't allow a cheap transfer, they see the operation quite unviable because of that.

Interestingly enough, the Madrid press say that Liverpool financial state is not as bad as we think, when they explain why Liverpool won't sell cheaply.

Myself, if we can recover what we paid for him, I do think it would be a good sell, but I wouldn't get rid of a young player in a cheap transfer.

A couple of weeks ago on the English Juve forum Momo Sissoko was getting rave reviews - they seem to love him. I remember a lot of us weren't to bothered about seeing him go. Is Babel another Liverpool training failure. There have been glimpses at times from Babel of some truly exceptional skill and at other times a footballer without a brain! I would hate to see him go to Real Madrid and develop into the player we sometimes think he can be. It would have been very easy to have offloaded Kuyt twelve months ago. I think Babel needs more time but like Keane I don't know how long we should give them. Babel is young and does not seem to be improving but I am not sure that we should just blame Babel or am I being too generous??

Says he doesn't want to leave, but he wants to play.

Babel urges Rafa to give him chance

Tue 25 Nov, 05:30 PM

Liverpool forward Ryan Babel is desperate for more first-team opportunities at Anfield - but insists he is not thinking about leaving the club.Rafael Benitez has rotated his squad less often recently, meaning fringe players like Babel are getting fewer starts.

"The rotation system is a thing of the past and I'm one of the victims of that," the 21-year-old told Dutch magazine Sportweek.

"The team is winning a lot, so you don't alter things just like that.

"Each season has about 60 games. 'I must work hard and wait for my chance,' is what you hear, but I've shown enough patience. I want to play.

"You get better and develop when you play. On the bench, nothing happens. Of course I'm disappointed when I don't play, that seems clear to me."

The Holland international has no intention of quitting Anfield, though.

"I don't want to go," he said. "My contract runs until 2012. I don't give up that easily."

So, he reckons he's done the waiting part but I see he makes no mention of the working hard part.  :kungfu:

Precisely.

Devaney - Sissoko for me just didn't have enough to his game. I'm not a big fan of the holding midfielder, partly why I floated out the idea of selling Mascherano if there are £20m bids out there and partly because we need quality and £20m will buy more quality than £1m + £2.5m + maybe £4m etc. We need to win games, to win more games we need to score more goals and that doesn't mean I expect Mascherano to, but that surely Alonso alongside Gerrard and £20m worth of attacking flair would be ample defence and an increased goalscoring potential than Gerrard and Mascherano with no added potential due to no £20m?

We pretty standardly concede an average of just under a goal a game. But we're only scoring 1.5 goals per game this season and that's consistent with the whole of Rafa's reign. We may have won a few more games than normal this season, but how many times have we had to come from behind? Do we need Mascherano on the field when we're chasing an equaliser or winner? I'd rather not waste a substitution taking him off when we're behind or haven't scored, was he even needed against Fulham?

Maybe the style of Italian football suits Sissoko more, I'm not sure it's a fair comparison, Sissoko was pretty effective in what he did but what exactly does Babel do? (except whinge at his treatment) He gets chances and doesn't do enough with them. Fair enough he's not a winger, but unfortunately he's not in the first two choices for striker and Rafa does have a tendancy to sub Riera and he's the one often comes on for him.

Owzat - I haven't quite decided whether it is Babel's ability or his brain that just aren't working. He had quite a run at the end of last season and from memory I don't think he ever set the world on fire. So far he looks expensive and maybe we should wait until the end of the season before making a decision.

Didi and Mascha are the types of players that sometimes don't appear to do a lot but play a very important role. Guess you don't become the captain of Argentina unless you have some impressive strengths.I think Mascha is a great player and somebody I would hate to leave. He allows Gerrard so much more freedom which is so important because we need Gerrard's goals as we just cannot rely on some of our so-called strikers.

I agree about Sissoko and Italian football possibly suiting him better but I think we got rid of him at a time when he was still lacking in confidence and recovering from injury.

Babel you will never get a consistant run in the starting XI because you don't deserve it. You've been given chances and not taken them this season.

The winning goal against United, was rewarded with a start against Marsielle in France. You won the penalty, fair enough, other than that absoloutely nothing. You had a blinder against Chelsea when you came off the bench, this was rewarded with a start against Portsmouth the following game and again you did nothing. In the Carling Cup you've sulked and shown no desire to be playing. No pride in the shirt from you on these occasions.

Instead of bemoaning the fact you're not playing, try getting your head down and working on your game because it's not as perfect as you might think. Such a raw talent with a horrible attitude.
