First time this season I was in the Paddock, half way into the Annie rd end of the pitch. Anyway the atmosphere, it was quite simply fucin awful. The place was dead, when you get theses odd daytrippers looking at you like your abit to common for them cos your singing YNWA you really know things are bad. Its gottabe the one thing that gets on my ti[/b]ts the most about things at the match, the crowd. Unfortunately we can only get to/afford not much more than the 19 league games at home but ffs the atmosphere hit an all time low on saturday.
Little sprogs running all over the spot, and that was just the pitch  , nah seriously though, little sprogs in the paddock, arguing over which hat they wanted on from there ma's Liverworld bag, no attempt by anyone to respond to the villa fans taking, " Your supports fucking etc....
The rants not just about the paddock either, atmosphere on the kop vastly over rated in the league games now and if i see another dozen northen irish lads behind me doing the easy chant il be forced to .....(do fuck all, theres a dozen but yaknow what i mean)

Just make you annoyed when theres loads of proper lads who could be in Anfield but its filled with muppets, and horses and nuns 

Where do we go from here to improve the atmosphere?

Same. And isn't it understandable that the atmosphere would be rather dull for a game like Saturday's? There wasn't really THAT much riding on it after all. I see where you're coming from though, and I've noticed it over the past few months.

Anfield atmosphere has decreased but still betters most clubs. The only teams who have decent atmospheres now are ourselves, pompey and newcastle. Football is changing for better or worse, it's impossible that Liverpool can remain a big club and not change with it.

Naah it has to be said league game atmosphere is pretty woeful except for the big games, ive got a season ticket but i try to get to as many away games as possible because there just so much better, as are cup/european games, basically there is more Out of Towners at league games and there is more expectancy, as we expect to beat everyone apart from the big games.

There is no point complaining about the atmosphere as it unlikely there is anything that can be done about it until the ticket office stop giving priority to people on day trips or depending on how far away they live away.

have to admit the atmosphere on saturday was non-existent, although i was in the centenary for the first time in 11 years which explains a lot. having said that every seat around me (judging by the accents anyway) was occupied by a scouser and the noisiest people there were me & an irish fella next to me so bollox to the OOTers argument. second half was a bit better but tbh the villa fans put us to shame, although by the looks of it they'd been on the special-brew since midday outside the arkles

I'm in the main stand nearest the Kop, and ooters in the main stand just look at the Kop and don't sing along.  It's a disgrace.

I think there is nothing worse than Wools getting up and chanting, they just look like dickheads.  I am not against wools as much as I once was, it's gloryhunters that me off

I can see your point and why you are concerned. The atmosphere created by LFC fans at matches is something special.

But do you have a solution or an idea on how this can be improved? Regardless of what happens, non scouse support is a fact. Its not something that can be changed even if the club wanted too. So its a matter of getting these supporters at matches to help create the atmosphere - but how?

I just don't think the end-goal of having an atmosphere at every game that makes the opposition quake in their boots, is helped by ridiculing the non-scouse, non singing supporters.

Its something related to passion. Passion is individual. Something like...everyone does their part. Dont live it to the " others"  to do it.

We cant's introduce "club coloured ketchup"  to attrack crowd because ketchup is already red ....hmmm

If football fans consisted of only people from the home town then football wqould not be as global as it is now. Its the millions of fans round the world that help contribute to revenue as well as other things that in the long run find players so dont go knocking supporters who arnt scouse.

I agree with that post, it can't be soley blamed on the OOTers.

I've sat in the KOP on a couple of ocassions and in the Annie road end, and although they were against mediocre teams the atmosphere was pretty subdued. I could only hear the scouse accent around me so I presume I was surrounded by Liverpudlians, but it was that quite I couldnt really tell ya for definate.

A bizarre statement mate, there is so much priority given to fans from different LFC supporters clubs.
I accept that so much of our revenue is generated from fans from all over the world, but i think it is easier for someone from say Leeds than Liverpool to get a ticket for Anfield, if you just join the leeds lfc supporters club they are reserved about 30 tickets for every match, my mate who's a scouser was actually getting tickets that way until last season.

The atmosphere in Anfield wasn't a disgrace whatsoever. It's just that you're used to high standards of atmosphere. It's an universal fact, no matter if you're in England or in Spain, that a game against the 15th has less atmosphere than against the top ones. It happens in the hot and the cold stadiums. And it's not about the people are changing, it's that the same people sat down instead of stand up and packed together creates lots of less pressure.

The atmosphere against Villa might be a disgrace compared to other past years, but from a foreign view it was a delight. The Villa fans of course could also be heard in TV because they had very much on stake, but our crowd didn't stop singing most of the time. One of the thing that shocks most to a foreign watcher is when you lot remember people who's not on the pitch with a song, I liked a lot the "Luis Garcia he drinks sangria" song in the last minutes.

I liked a lot how the crowd was ready to clap the good actions of questioned players like Morientes and Traore. When Traore made one of his mistakes only a few  mutterings could be heard, but when he made good tackles the crowd seemed to be more than ready to clap that action. All that are signs of a good crowd.


So bottomline, Anfield even in it's poorest afternoons is great

No offense Bavlondon, but i think you missed the point.

I was responding to the much discussed issue of fans, from outside of liverpool, coming to the game and adding nothing to the atmosphere. I think Mark23 is a little annoyed because these tickets taken up by these fans could have gone to those (scouse) supporters who would add lots to the atmosphere.

I just pointed out, that its a fact of life now. something that cannot be changed, only improved. When I first visited anfield i was as quite as mouse. It was only on my third trip to anfield that some scouse supporters took me aside in a pub before the game and told me to sing non-stop, even if i didn't know the words.

But I will never be like them, i live to far away to go regularly. But I will always be grateful those random scouse supporters who had a word in my ear, without ridicouling me, although they did con me into buying them a round of drinks.
