Well i'm in work ,so i had to listen to the match on radio city. Did we play as bad as Aldo made out. It sounded to me like it was backs to the wall stuff for most of the game . He gave kuyt MoM and basically said rafa's subs were completely baffeling. Was it as bad as Aldo made out?

kuyt man of the match for me even without the goal, i just wish some of the others would show the same amount of determination and commitment, babel for example to many times tonight he seemed to bottle out of the one on ones when the ball was there to win.

Well perhaps we sat deep too soon in the second half, but to be perfectly honest, Aldo should have acknowledged that we did counter with danger in the second half aswell. We had to sustain some heavy pressure in some minutes that they insisted on the left, but we were not awful as in put the wall or the bus on front of the goal.

Lucas change was understandable, and benayoun's aswell, the idea was to keep posession. The one of Torres is not understandable unless he was totally exhausted. Crouch would have been the best option maybe.

Kuyt did a very good game indeed, both for the goal and defensive help, that in a couple of options it was crucial.

1-1's a good result... not very convinced with our performance though... I thought we could've played better... we sat back too much for my liking and let arsenal attack too much... I'll have to point out 3 players for criticism... the first is alonso... he was just too slow in closing down defenders, when lucas came on he injected some urgency again in the middle... the second is babel... he wasn't doing it for me... he wasn't winning the 50-50 battles and showed some bad decision making to be fair he was tightly marked... 3rd is torres... it's not that he played very badly but he wasn't showing enough urgency for me... he was isolated but he wasn't working hard enough for me and closing down the defenders... sometimes he would give up on the ball to easily and comes back... i don't know whether those are rafa's orders though...

Good result. And I thought kuyt was very good cant comment on the second half but first half I thought we were 50/50 with arsenal them having chances and us. Did well to keep it at 1-1 so im happy until the return when i'll be cacking myself again !

well great result tonight, would have loved a lead over them but this will do.
Kuyt had a bad 5 mins at the start but was very good tonight............but he is pulling players in the pen area to much, he got lucky tonight and this is not the first time he has done this and got away with it.

It wasn't that bad at all in my view. we sat deep, two banks of four and they couldn't break us down. The Hleb penalty was out of nothing, he kind of just wriggled through a pack of players and then Kuyt grabbed his shoulder and he went down. Definate penalty IMHO but the ref didn't give it so there you go.

then they had the Bendnter clearance off the line, that came from a good passage of play with Fabregas (I think) throwing himself at a cross from walcott on the left which Reina had palmed away. It was in for all money but the silly fecker was stood on the line and kind of fell over himself trying to get out of the way. Not only did he clear it but he got pinged for being offside    :D

Other than that, they largely played in front of us, although they did have a lot of posession.

but our performance first half wasn't great

S@int I thought our first half as a decent one, it was Arsenal IMO who were not great. Second half though they totally dominated but ran out of steam by the 70th minute. We did well to hang in there at times and credit to Skertel for the goal-line clearance, and to Kuyt for getting away with loosing a penalty.

I thought we threatened very little and were lucky on a few occasions first half mate, I am happy with the result though,so I won't complain.

Still a lot to do second leg, we need to pass much better IMO and not give them as much time as we did tonight. Advantage to us though.

It was backs to the wall for the majority of the second half, but honestly I thought the first half was pretty even. We statrted brighter then Arsenal had a bit of possesion, but jnothing to concerning.

The commentators always cream themselves about Arsenals one touch football, but for me it was non-exsistant in the first half. Yet at half time the pundits were having multiples over something I never saw ... Typical.

Second half we took a bit of a bashing, admittedly. Rafa should of kept Babel on though as Benayoun was pretty much useless. Other than that the result was great the performnace and good team spirit one, so Aldo can f.uck off.

Great result but overall the overall standard of play was poor.
When we decided to settle and connect passes we looked great, but unfortunately those moments were sparse. As a result, we were under constant pressure hence our continual breakdown on the flanks. Great games by Kuyt, Gerrard, Skrtel, Hyypia, Mascherano. Torres was a bit isolated up top and never really got a look in all game. Alonso was poor; Carrager's distribution is not good enough for right back. I thought Lucas and Benayoun improved the quality of the play when they got in. I was surprised Crouch didn't play today. I though this was a game he would have done well in.

I don't like to be harsh on players but Babel was rubbish tonite. He doesn't play fast enough to be effective. His refusal to play quickly killed play for us and let Arsenal players get back. I consider Benayoun, Kuyt, and Pennant to be superior players.

If we need one play to come in this summer its a world-class outside midfielder. We have quality all over the pitch except there where we are just :censored:. cheers
