Are we going to sign anyone else ? - Do we need to ?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'd be happier if we had a right winger and another striker, and given when our season started and the likelihood (or hope) that we'll progress quite far in both cups, there is the issue of burn out...

Still overall it's satisfactory.

Or if Mark Gonzalez's work permit goes through, will that give us what we need ??

Looking at the current squad on a position by postion basis we seem to be ok.

Reina/Carson

Finnan/Agger/Warnock/King Jamie/Kromkamp/Hyppia/

Alonso/Gerrard/Kewell/Sissoko/Hamann/Garcia

Crouch/Cisse/Morientes/Pongolle

Add Gonzalez to that mix and we look very good

is riise injuried, just curious cos he aint on ur list and i wudnt be 100% sure where to check

[quote]Adriano?

I would prefer that Ukranian guy that plays for AC Milan. Let's get him. Maybe we could get him on loan at first..

I doubt we will be seeing any big name signings under Rafa's tenure. Very good established players, or young hungry ones. Very few clubs make 15 million plus signings.  10 million even. I doubt that Rafa and LFC will ever be involved in signing one of world football's "hottest properties" in the immediate future...

OMG IS HE FOR REAL

like ac milan would sell probably the best striker in europe to the side who stole the europeon cup from them.....and adriano probably the other best player we got as much chance of getin him as we have of keeping steven gerrard at the club till he retires..cos lets b honest he'll b going soon

WTF ....Whats the specialist for .....a specialist wánker....
what planet are you on that you could possibly think that AC Milan would offer shevchenko on loan to us or indeed anyone.....

The quality of these newbies on here beggars belief.

You would be the wa.nker. Both you and LIVERPOOL _FC_YNWA are dimwits as well. The Specialist is an Interpol song, as well as my username on here.. Now, do you know who Interpol are? Probably not, although they are well-known. What have you been drummin' on, Phil?? Your head?? You thick :censored:. Now, why don't you think a bit before you start to spout off. You look quite foolish now. I don't like to be rude, but don't provoke me. I'm not a newbie, btw. I've been on this board for over a year and some change. I just re-registered due to computer problems.

The signing of Xabi was big money, yes. But, not an extreme amount. This is what I am saying. And, although Real and the Mancs were interested they never stepped up their interest and made it serious from the beginning. Real toyed with the idea of signing him for a bit too long, and I don't remember what happened with the Mancs. Either club could easily outbid us, though. They are probably kicking themselves now. Puddy mentioned Adriano. One of the best and most recognized strikers in the world. Household name. He would easily cost any club wanting to buy him in excess of 25 million, IMO. That's unrealistic. Xabi Alonso wasn't a household name when we signed him. Most Liverpool supporters hadn't heard of him before, let's be honest. Only people who watched La Liga knew much of him. Gerrard, Henry, Adriano, etc. Everyone knows of them. This was my point, I don't think we will ever buy these types of players flat out. They cost insane money. This is why I said "very-good experienced (doesn't mean old) players" are our realistic targets instead of highest of profile ones. I'm not even going to comment of Cisse as his tranfer cost is a joke..

Specialist,

I think he was more on about you taking the signing of Adriano or Shevchenko seriously - anyone thinking we have the drawing power or money to lure them away is a joke. And he most likely doesnt give a toss where your name is from - just wanted to be clever and insult you with your nickname :P

But i wouldnt want Sheva though, he cant even score from the spot or even from less than  yard away with the keeper already on his knees! :D:D

What's funny is that you kept on going after I even explained, proving my point that you actually don't think or properly read posts. It had to be pointed out to you by a couple people. :D Don't aim your "newbie" hate at me when I am not deserving of it. To think I purposely added emoticons to my comments to avoid a situation such as this..

p.s. Someone mentioned a striker. I heard Eto'o is unsettled at Barcelona. I think we should put in a bid for him. I know this is considered to be in bad taste, but we should publicly announce that we are prepared to offer up 3 million plus Traore in a deal. That should get them to come crawling to us and get negotiatons under way. Realistically, I think this should do the trick and is a good plan. What do you say, Phil?? If it meets your approval, I'm going to send an email to the club. Perhaps if you agree, you can sign off on it as well?? Your 31 years of going to Anfield and all. Perhaps that fact will be of better use put in a letter to the club and actually hold some weight, rather than telling someone on the internet who doesn't care who you are/what your past history is and just judges you on your posts. Which in this thread, haven't been great and a waste. Not insulting you or anything, though. Just telling the truth..

Having said all of that, show me a man who never makes a mistake and I'll show you a lying ponce. This forum has been filled up recently with daft people posting daft thoughts on daft threads so it's understandable that once in a while, the old gatlin gun is going to get trained upon an indeserving case. I notice you specialist have correctly identified such a thread and a rogue poster on the Man yoo v Liverpool repeat thread from earlier so you are aware of the problem.
Phil's one of the best and most respected posters on here as I'm sure you're aware if you've been around for a year, and you seem to know your stuff aswell so it's probably time to let it go.
