Anfield pitch

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

For something a bit different..............................Can anyone tell me WTF has happened to our hallowed turf ??!!. It looks an absolute MESS, I have never seen so many bald patches and divots, the ball was 'bobbling' all over the place.

We used to have the best pitch in the league once upon a time, surely this cannot be helping the pass and move total football Rafa is trying to install into our boys.

Sort it out Groundsman Please, its a feckin joke!!!

i know some of the groudsmen at anfield and they do work hard, what you will find it that, the pitch has been used regularly over the last few weeks, especially the watford were it was littered with balloons, etc and the weather cant help matters.  i think from what my mate said there is youth games to be played on it as well.

but rest assured that come feb 5th when we play fulham, the pitch will be back in shape

i bet you didnt know that some parts of the turf at anfield is actually plastic.  its the stuff they use in the states, and normal grass can grow around it. a few other clubs are getting on to it

Yeah the pitch is slightly synthetic.

Found that out when I went on the tour around Anfield last year.

thanks for backing me up there i was expecting everybody to call me all the lying ba3tards going when i said that

i cant believe this idiot would complain about the pitch and indirectly call the grounds staff lazy, they work in all conditions.

plus i dont if many of you know this, but liverpool fc's stadium manager(Mr Ged Poyton)  does a splendid job running the place and wouldnt stand for any incompetence

Hmmm, learn something new every day!

Didnt have the slightest of clues that we had a partially synthetic pitch.

Oh, do you know what parts are synthetic?

It would be a good idea to get it infront of goal and the parts the get most wear

i know one of the groundsmen at everton and he was telling me that it is that good, you cant even tell, apparently over in the states they use it on the american football fields and a couple of clubs here and in europe have adopted it.

its not that surprising, were my uncle plays 5aside, you can slide across the astro turf without fear and ripping your legs apart cos it is quite good

We should get the stuff that Luton used to have and change it around to different parts of the pitch every week so the opposition have no idea how the ball will bounce in different parts.

A cunning plan!

was it wimbledon( when they were the crazy gang) that used to let the grass grow long by the corner flags, so they could hoof it down the wing, and while were on the subject, we'll turn the hot water off to the away changing rooms, another crazy gang trick

If its that good why is the pitch ******, not blaming the groundsman so we can blame Parry and Moores.

Seriously the pitch shouldn't be allowed to get into that condition.

as i said before, the weather and the fixtures havent helped, plus it is being used for youth games as well.  it will be sorted for the fulham game.

i thought the reserves and youth teams started playing at southports ground or somewhere.
we had a few problems with the pitch a few years ago and i remember liverpool spending a fortune shipping kentucky blue grass over from the states.
i didnt know about the synthetic grass either.
but whatever the reason for the poor pitch it certainly doesn`t help the passing style rafa`s trying to adopt.
