I can't remember mine as my uncles took me back in the day when I was about 3/4 in about 1982, all I can remember was how kool everyone was giving me their coat to sit on with it being stands
My first trip was fantastic. Was in 85 or 86. My uncle was a Liverpool Councilor at the time and he knew the Anfield caretaker so i got to work around the stadium before the game started, sit in the directors box and tour the packed trophy room. The gamke was against Leicester who were a bit of a bogey team for the mighty reds at the time but we won the game 1-0 although i cannot recall who scored the goal. I was in absolute awe for the full 90mins. It was magic. I get up to Anfield 2/3 times a season from the south coast an i still get the same feeling of awe & excitement everytime i get near the ground. Anfielod feels different to any other stadium i've been to. You can feel the history of the place.
Have a cracking day out fella & make sure you sing your heart out
I remember my first visit. My father was working in liverpool at the time so was going on a regular basis.
It was one of the best presents i'v ever had when he came home and gave me an envelope to open and i found the tickets inside. 2 Tickets KOP end. We stood at the very front just behind the goal. i watched with joy at grobbelaar's warm up what a legend.
The fixture was against spurs and before the match John Parrot came on the field with to show off his Snoker trophy he'd won against Jimmy white i think.
Got taken as a kid a load of times but can't remember specific games, just remember it being really noisy and loving the way everybody seemed to get caught up in the whole thing and just go bananas
First specific games I remember were stuffing Southampton 5-0 and then W Ham 6-0 in the mid 80's. Used to be a great day out, we'd drive to my parents' friends place in Ellesmere Port and the women would stay in all day whilst me, my dad & brother and Des & Paul would go over to the game. We always ended up there dead early cos Des wanted to "savour the atmosphere" around the ground, even though he was a season ticket holder for christsakes and was there every other week
So TheKopp, enjoy your first time staring out at the hallowed turf of Anfield The atmosphere's not quite what it was back then for a number of reasons but the place still has a special magic about it
Here's a question for you, I go to Anfield when I can, sometimes only 4/5 times a season but sometimes a lot more. I have only once sat/stood in the Kop. How do you get tickets for the Kop?
Its the same for me. I get up to Anfield 3/4 times a season but normally end up on Anny Road. Got kop end for the League Cup semi against Sheff.Utd a couple of seasons ago but its a lot tougher to get them for league games.
