betis are in CL.  There is no way he is going anywhere this season.  maybe next summer.

actually....... they might be in the champions league and they might not. they've still got to qualify and they're not seeded either.

If we draw real betis, we can make a bet with the other manager.

If we win, we advance and get Joaquin.

If they win, they advance and get Josemi.

Sounds like a great deal to me!  :D

there's not many right wingers that are well known and realistic targets for liverpool thinking about it.

I think the person that we missed out on this summer who would have done a perfect job down the right was, Wayne Rotledge. He has good pace, though not lightning quick, good skill and more importantly works really hard (or the line as Bigmick said!) in a defensive manner.
I watched him last week against Lyon and he was looking good, going past players and putting in dangerous crosses, the type of cross that draws the keeper out, but then ends up at the penalty spot and should be an easy finish (if the striker is there of course, which sadly for Spurs they were not!).

As for a realistic target, Im not too sure......Hargreaves is a decent one I suppose especially when you consider his versatility. Figo, could be a good stop gap for the time being while we line up a long term replacement, but the saga is dragging a bit now!
That Izmailov (sp?) is decent and a whippet, but I have'nt seen enough to see his consistency levels, so cant make an honest observation!

There really are not many 'quality' players in that positon (that are realistically available) at the moment, so we may have to make do with what we already have, which IMO is a worry.

However Rafa must have foreseen this problem and must have a plan and even an option that he may use as a last resort, especially as Nunez has gone to Vigo now!

bigmick wrote:My choice if Figo is a no-no would be Owen Hargreaves. He would also provide cover for other positions. I don't necessarily go for this theory that we should have a couple of blokes bombing down the wings, pinging in crosses for our strikers. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think Crouch is going to score lots of goals by attacking crosses and I think it's more important to simply provide width and shape than to be an out and out winger.
As a flyer and one thats a bit out there, sooner or later somebody will realise that Glen Johnson will never make a right full-back while he has a hole in his jacksy and that in actual fact, he's a right sided midfielder being played out of position. At about 2.5 million I'd take a punt on himk being quite a good one too.

I think Hargreaves signed a new deal with Bayern already

thats true, but he will still play in both games. This means he will be cup-tied for everyone.
