Messi is the best player in the world and hes shown last year that he is the better player when ManUtd played Barcelona and Ronaldo went missing in the big occasion yet again... if it wasnt for ronaldos goals against all the smaller clubs in the country and europe he wouldnt have won it.. but with his record and manutd winning both the league and the CL there was always going to be one man getting this award and perhaps deservedly so.. Torres 3rd , no complaints...

Like him or not Lampard has been one of the most consistent footballers in the planet for the past few seasons.. he rarely misses a game and his goalscoring records are outstanding for a midfielder.. his team is always there or thereabouts in most championships so in my books he was always going to be in the top 20 atleast...

Mascherano doesnt deserve to be anywhere near that list... Zlatan was the main man for Inter last year and had a brilliant season dont know where all the nonsense about him not contributing to inters season is coming from... guy is absolute class and one of the best forwards in the planet atm.. right up there with torres and the likes...

Kaka deserves to be up there, brilliant footballer and besides all that if it wasnt for him Milan would have struggled even more than they did last season,... milan were pretty much a one man team last year and whenever Kaka missed a game they looked like an average side ...

IF thats your theory on reina not being on the list , van der sar does not deserve to either , he's there because manure won the league and champions league . Artur boruc was part of the nominees as well and he plays for celtic , no way is he deserves to be there over reina .

No arguement about messi and ronaldo .

Lampard , i do agree with you to a certain extent , he's instrumental to his team and gets the goals .

As for Kaka , he deserves to be no where near that list as he did :censored: all last season , compared to his form in the previous seasons ,  he's just there as he was a former winner the year before

Masch deserves to be on that list as he's one of the best at least top 3 defensive midfielders in the world . Zlatan was like torres for us last seasons , he got loads of goals for inter and one of the main reasons why they won the league .

Torres would have been no.1 if we won the champions league. Esp if he score at the final.

mmm.. yea thats what i said about Reina.. DID NOT WIN ANYTHING ... i mean his club end the season in 3rd position in the league and hes not a starter for his country, and most important of all he is by no means an outstanding player who deserves to be there for his sheer brilliance or outstanding displays...why on earth would he be on that list ? Vandersar won the league with his club, the Cl with his club and he starts for his country... and i didnt see anyone voting for Boruc either, he starts for his country and won the league with his club, but only reason he was nominated (if he was) is because of some outstanding displays for his country...

When it comes to Kaka its hard not to have him on a list that includes the best players in the world... He's an outstanding player and while his team havnt won anything of note last season he still managed to put on some impressive displays for his club, getting them a Euro cup spot and taking them as far as he could in the Champions league... he desrves to be on that list..

Mascherano is not an outstanding player, he didnt win anything with his club... his contribution to the Argentinian team that won the Olympics was nothing to take note of... why would he be there ?

Doesn't Reina keep winning the golden gloves award in the Premiership? Van Der Sar is an awful keeper, just awful...

But we didn't, and he didn't.

I honestly don't think there should be too much dispute about this year's Ballon D'Or (well, not the top 3 at least, Van der Sar being in there is a whole other story  :no ). Even though I really really dislike the manc boy band star, there's no denying he had an awesome season last year. Messi is just simply a fantastic player, and he's already looking like a huge favourite for next year, if he can steer clear of injuries. So there's absolutely no shame in Torres finishing third, and as someone else already put it, he'll always be number one for us anyway (well, him or Dossena :p ).
