Alarming amount of lunchtime kick offs?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Kev Huyton 2006 » Fri Jul 21, 2006 10:02 pm

I think this lunchtime kick off nonsense is no good, as then the players may not get enough kip as they have to get up at 6am probably!

i went to LFC V man utd, 2 seasons ago, sunday, kick of ..1:45pm.

now what the motha f*cka is that all about?

1:45pm?............WHY??

Popular legend has it that lunch time kick offs ,(especially for matches such as LFC v Man U , Neverton etc ) are the brainchild of the police , as it gives the fans less time in the boozer getting rat a'rsed before the match and therefore an easier time for the old bill .

I understad the logic , but can't say I like it.

Going back to the original point, if we play 6 or so lunchtime games in a row, whereas everyone else only plays one, then it WILL have an effect.

Whether it'll be enough to stop us remains to be seen.

I have visions of the day when Sky show every single game, and they make :censored: teams play at stupid times, i.e. Super Sunday or what ever it is called now runs like this:

Manchester United vs Manchester City 11.15am, then a few more games, one about 8.00pm from Spain, then throw Villa Vs Everton on about 1.30am in the morning.

Sorry, I may be a bit slow, how exactly does having more lunch time kick offs hinder/help us?

Because the players don't have a dinner, they just have a breakfast before the match.  I don't about you, but I can't work on an empty stomach.

Because the players get less sleep.

The preperation time for matches will be the same, ergo something has to give.

Can you see 16 18-30-year-olds going to bed at about 9pm every Friday night?

Surely if we have 6 lunchtime kickoffs in a row that would mean the players would adjust to it and get used to it rather than it being a one off?

Btw I think this is a load of bollox and it will not make a blind bit of difference whether we kick off at 12 or at 8 in the evening

Wont the opposition team have the exact same situation, thus having no bearing on the result?

They aren't a :censored: Pub team, they are professionals, paid a lot of money.  I think they might just be able to do it.
