Rafa Benitez is apparently going to make his fith signing on monday with a reported £4 million capture of Newcastle striker Alan Shearer. Local Newcastle radio are reporting Shearer will miss todays game before undergoing a medical tomorrow before signing a two year deal on Monday morning. If the reports are true then Rafa will get a player Houllier failed to get last year.

I seriously doubt that Shearer would leave Newcastle unless he gets into a big arguement with Sir B.R.

sorry....i really don't know what you say because would rafa waste that kind of money on a ageing striker.
did he mention before we're now in revolution and i don't think that what advantage will we get if we grab shearer? :)  sorry to say that.....

Alan Shearer is old ....... Why would we need him ? Chelsea got Kezman for 5 million ? We can surely can someone in same calibre for that money.

:grinning: alan is what the team needs-- he is an ENGLISH legend -- he'll give all he can for this year maybe next but he'll fill a gap until cisse and/or baros gets it -- we need a proven striker and alan is one -- kezman is a risk -- he's not real big and will take time to adapt- so will cisse

power in the penalty is-- here we go hockey again -- kinda like todd bertuzzi until of course he kinda broke that guy's neck

Wouldnt want Shearer in our team, hes getting on a bit now, we need younger players now players for the future, the experienced players we should bring in should be no older than 30.
I think Shearer only has a couple more years at the top level, he said himself he is finding it a lot harder to recover from injuries now :(
8 Years ago Id have snatched him with both arms but now his best days are gone

Come off it guys, Shearer is old, true. But look at the goals he scores, especially with his head, name a Liverpool player who is good in the air up front...

He would bring us at least 15 goals a season in my opinion.
