It all comes down to the derby at Anfield....if we win we have a 4 point gap to make up....which can turn around in the last two games of the season...other than that it is going to take a massive effort to get fourth. Everton are above us for a reason...they have gained more points...why should they suddenly collapse because we need those 7 points....we will drop points as well in the run in....if we can lose to Southampton we cannot take any points for granted.....we can only hope that they drop 7 more points than us....It can be done but it certainly won't be easy....we have to be more consistent in the last 14 games than we have been since we last put a run together to clinch CL spot in the treble season....we stumbled over the line last year....we can't hope for that again...but I do.

are you suggesting that these three teams will only try harder against everton??

It's doesn't matter which team will play harder , as long these three team beat Everton and Everton will lose 9 points .

it was sarcasm

The way Everton fans are going on, you would think they were Man U! Prolly why they sold Rooney to Man U.
I hate to say it, but I think that selling Rooney was the best thing Everton ever did. Ok Man U are above them, but I can imagine Rooney ruling the roost at Everton was detrimental to the team spirit. He is an egotistical thug with a skill at football. Sell him and team camaraderie flourishes. Hard work. Team Spirit..=Everton.  Moyes is doing a grand job.

Liverpool?  New players not used to the premiership, players not used to a new manager(Rafa) who has REAL tactical awareness, new manager (Rafa) with limited funds, because of uncertainty of Takeover Bids, etc etc.

Will we get 4th place? I hope so, but I don't underestimate Everton at all this season. Just like I don't underestimate ManU.

Let Everton crow over us this season. This year they have the kind of team that won the Championship in the 80's, they will go to the Champions League and be humbled.

I will never forget the fact that Evertonians blamed Liverpool's ban from Europe after Hysel for them never winning the European Cup, because they were champions that year, during the ban. What Evertonians didn't realise was that Liverpool won the championship more years after that,  and did they really think Everton would win it first off?

and??? whats the point you are trying to make??

we couldnt even beat southampton for f*cks sake

And? We beat Arsenal, what is your point? We're inconsistant but when it comes down to it the difference between us and them is the fact that we hang in there until the end. Remember last season? We were low one confidence and there was hardly any self belief in the squad at the time when  we played against Southampton.

You see Everton getting a result against Chelse anad Man Utd? I certainly don't, yesterday it took an own goal for them to beat Norwich at home. Without a player such as Gravesen who was their most influential player I don't see them staying in fourth place or getting a whole load of points from their next upcomming fixtures.

the fact is that everton are 7 points ahead of us, they are there becasue they have won more points than us, this is a fact. whatever argument you want to make about who they have to play, they are in the driving seat.

the point im making about southampton, is that if they can spank us (which they did) then who is to say everton will not grind out results against @rse, scum and cheslki. you are also missing the main point that in reality we have to win all our remaining games. can you really see that happening? AB you dont have a crystal ball so you really dont know what will happen. i assume you knew that greece would win euro 2004

of course i hope it does but i am a realist and we are too inconsistent. i wish you would think out your reply before you post it   :D  ???

optimism is great, but experience tells me to be a realist, its going to be difficult. when i was younger i always believed that we would win every game, but when i was younger we did win every game.

as i get older i can see us for what we are now, and thats a team that are just not good enough anymore.

i hope that changes soon

My sentiments to a point Peewee but honestly mate we have played some good football this season and I can see in Morientes and Alonso players of that ilk that could help LFC to reagin some of the past glories. No team (Soton apart) have outplayed us even this season.

This season depsite the longest injury list in the Prem LFC have secured a final place in the Carling Cup, qualified for the last 16 of the CL and maybe still make 4th spot .

Raffa's made some changes to the way we play, some have worked , others haven't but overall I've bene highly impressed with the dignity , the work ethic and honesty coming from the boss ...

Walk on .........

i agree, although i think sometimes effort has been lacking. i am sure that we will perform much better next season, we have a few new players and it does take time to blend, i would love to see us injury free next season and playing with some confidence.

in all fairness rafa has made some strange decisions but i hope thats down to just trying to be fair to players, we dont know what goes on in the background.

it feels like because it such a long time since we won the league that we have forgotten how to do it, all the old faces have gone now so its a new experience for everyone concerned anmd i do believe we need a business man as chairman, someone who know how to work as opposed to having such a large inheritence. thats why its difficult for moores to make decisions, he is not really used to being aggressive and putting his balls on the line.

lets hope we get 4th and build on that next season, oh and winning the champions league this year would be nice   :D

Peewee I am not just being optimistic, I'm being realistic as well.

We were in the same situation last season where finishing fourth place seemed unlikely, however Newcastle bottled it and we took their place. The difference between us and Everton is that we fight until the very end.

When was the last time they were in this position? What makes you think that they won't bottle it? Yes they're above us by seven points but I can't see them getting more than 3 points in the next three league fixtures.

Do I see us winning all games? No I don't but I don't see us losing more than 1-2 games, these last 13 games are extremely important and I have faith in our players, they know whats at stake here.

Yesterday Everton were very fortunate, I'm not just saying that because I hate them but I say that from a football fans point of view overall. It took a Norwich own goal for them to win, without Gravesen their most influential player the next 13 games won't be a walk in the park.

Mark my words we will finish fourth, and if I'm wrong then my words will bite me in the a$$.

this is the comment that puzzles me, it seems you think everton will just give up. this is not the case, lets not forget that everton were winning titles in the 80's.

also where do you get this theory that liverpool will fight to the end, ive seen games this season where we didnt even fight at all.

i am 100% sure that everton will fight to the end of the season, they might not win all their games but im sure that wont be through lack of effort. we have to win three more games than everton, i hope we do it but it will not be easy

peewee, I agree that for Liverpool FC to move forward, we need to re-organise the executives and the board to fit in with the times. The only problem is that Moores would logically not want to step aside unless he is compensated by the incoming party with a reasonable offer to buy him out fully or partially.

Morgan proposed to inject money directly into LFC, without compensating Moores financially and with Moores having to dilute himself eventually without any kind of payment. Moores has, in the past, personally put in his own money to part finance player purchases.

Both parties must come to a common level to make it a reality, Moores must lower his "compensation" somewhat and Morgan must also compensate Moores and not just aim to put 100% money into the club and expect Moores to welcome him with open arms. Abramovich bought out the shareholders of Chelsea first before pumping his money into the club.
