Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Good post mate
What i love most about this season, is when i sit down to watch Liverpool play nowadays. Im now confident we are going to get a result regardless of who we are playing and where we are playing.
With a couple more signing in the summer, rub of the green when it comes to injuries and those other type x-factors there is a realistic chance of us finally grabbing the holy grail
Rafalution is far ahead of any schedule that i had for it
Forever Red in this life and the next

Great post!

I would agree with laza in that EVERY TIME we play these days I, as a fan, feel really confident that we can win the game. In previous seasons I have been a bag of nerves going into some games where I was not 100% confident that we could overcome a sticky team! It is clear that the players now fear nobody and go into evey game confident of victory.

Not only has Rafa installed some quality into the squad (Reina, Sissoko, Alonso, Crouch etc) but he has installed a strong winning mentality into the players.

Making further progression next year (which I am convinced we will) should see us pass Man Utd and push Chelsea all the way. As an LFC supporter for 20 years I have never had so much confidence in a back room team/set of players.

The future is bright, the future is RED!  :D

If Stevie,Carra and Alonso stay relatively injury free,if Gonzales meets up to expectations and Robbie can give us an extra 8 or so goals then we have as good a chance as any. Man U are becoming far too reliant on Rooney and I think Chelsea will at the very least slip just a little -perhaps more than that as some of their players seem unhappy and their manager may well lose the plot if we put him under pressure from the start.

Can't see any other dangers.

That's a point nobody has touched on yet.  It's mainly because our first ten match winning streak was achieved by conceding not even a single goal.

Actually, I might be wrong as I think the Sao Paolo game was sandwiched in there somewhere but the fact that this run isn't being mentioned tells you that we are just taking it for granted now, and it isn't a surprise anymore when we go on these ten match winning streaks.  It's becoming our bread and butter and long may these kind of runs continue.

Next season I fully expect us to push even closer, maybe not win the title, but to improve on this year would be amazing.  To say we couldn't win the title is silly considering the surprises Benitez keeps throwing at us, I think he's capable of winning anything he wants.  If he managed Spain, he'd probably come closer than any other Spanish manager in their history to delivering them the World Cup.  He's the most astute manager in the game at this moment in time for me.  Up there with the current greats like Hiddink and Scolari, proven winners.

Even though this season has been great, the title race was over by October.  Next season, we still need to be in with a shout with two games to go.  Not talking about catching Manchester United in second place.

yeah i agree that this latest winning streak has gone unnoticed. we're just unfortunate that manure have been matching us result for result recently.

if you look at it, we've taken 66 points from the last 28 games which is superb. if we'd started well and not taken only 10 points from the first 8 games, we'd be well clear in second, if not challenging chelsea.

Good post Gary Mac  :)

Going back to the 20 million. The only small criticism I can think of is not selling Diao and that French bloke the new Zidane :D

But looking at the players
Crouch, done what we expected and looks a good member of the squad.
Reina, top notch and part of a solid defence
Sissoko, Only 5 million  :D
Gonzalez, Having rave reviews in Spain and cant wait to see him over here.

Fowler for free and even if he doesnt stay it was great to see him again in a LFC shirt and he hasnt let anybody down.

Were also looking at some sales in the summer as well.

But if anyones looking at value for money then winning the champions league wasnt a bad effort.  In fact saying champions league sounds pretty good, european cup sounds even better.  So 20 million and we are champions of Europe, compared to the clubs who didnt win were practically on a shoestring budget :D

Yes the Sao Paulo game was in that run, but we didnt lose, we got well and truly mugged by a crazy set of officials and a conspiracy that says europe cant be world champions!!
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road
