12:45 kick offs premiership - Early kickoffs

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby parchpea » Thu Mar 15, 2007 7:11 pm

It has occurred to me that Liverpool have had more than their fair share of early kickoffs this season and wonder if anyone thinks it makes a difference to performance.

Feel free to correct me on the stats but I think we have played 9 this season at 12:45 with a record of:

Won 4
Drawn 1
Lost 4

Overall in the league we have lost 8 games and therefore 50% of our matches have been lost over those 9 early starts.

A total loss of 13 points has had a fair impact on our campaign so far.

Is this my paranoia and maybe just coincidence or are these incredible number of lunch time kick offs having a genuine effect on performance?

You'd also have to look at who we played in those games though...the likes of Chelsea/Manure are probably the reason some of those lost points

Early kick offs are usually when we play big games like the Merseyside Derby,Man Utd,Chelsea etc......
The early time is the idea of police and local authorities, the thought behind it being that there is less time for fans to get drunk before, hence less chance of alcohol fuelled trouble!

Our poor record in these games if there is one has nothing to do with the time mate, its just usually we are up against tougher teams or our rivals if ya like!

There professional footballers, they should perform at whatever time they have to kick off.

I'm currently in Jakarta - early kick offs mean prime tv hours in the far east.  Villa kick off is 9.30pm tonight.

Bobbies and drinking... yeah sure but gotta see the big picture as well, tv rights = sponsership = influence over kick off time.

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

It's like saying "It's tall but short" - it's a contradiction.

One time, I saw a man looking at me, yes, with his eyes. And then, he, he picked up a tube. And he looked, in the tube, and he made the moon big, inside the tube. The moon big inside a tube! Waahaha... Aaah. Telescope.

Lunch time kick offs mean night time (8 pm) matches in the East (ie Asia). If any match kicks off later, basically that means Asians have to watch matches in the wee hours of the morning and go off for work/school after that. Nice...

harsh but fair is actually a term made famous by partyboy on jackass... so we'll give him that one

if the 1245 kick offs are for the big games... do the other of the 'big 4' have the same amount of early kick offs? i dont think they do somehow. it does seem like we always have that ko...

12:45 kick offs don't seem so bad after today!!! On Five-Live they made mention of the fact that Liverpool play a lot of them due to their following in the Asian market, coupled with waht Jamie said on Sky about LFC really pushing now to capitalise on their commercial appeal what with Messrs Hicks and Gillette now on board......
