I'm going to buy a bass guitar in June. Which colour do you think is better? It's going to be my first guitar so if anyone knows any any other bass guitars that are good, let me know.

Nah, mate, you want something that really stands out from the crowd.  Might I recommend the Gene Simmons axe bass? :D

Guitars are great!
They are addictive, when you pick it up it hurts your fingers. Most put it down right away.
I've played for about 9 years and i'd say im ok no Gene Simmons but its safe to say no Status Quo either.

Dward lad why are you learning the bass first?Or do u play the 6 string already?
Its just playing a normal guitar will teach you all the chords and scales you need to know at a pace you choose.
The bass is different, you are playing along with the drummer and lead and are basically their slag!

Apologies if im wrong matey but id get an acoustic 6 string and play about with the basics for a while first.A,D and E and C and G and then! :D

For all i know you may be great already, best of luck lad and buy the red one!! :p

Has to be black!!!

My son plays the bass. He has 2 of them and both are black. He says black is cool and would not want one in any other colour, lol.

Mate.... that's a classic bass you're looking at. Gibson SG (formally known as the EB3)....
That's an icon that is..... sacrilege to go for any other colour than the original classic Cherry!

If you're hell bent on a Gibson, theres no better choice IMO and I'm guessing you're band plays predominantly rock/grunge/alternative.
In the same sort of price range, one of the best playing basses I've ever used is the Lakland Skyline..... both the classic hollow body which has a really mellow sound or the solid body which has a rocking thump to it. Appearance is subjective though..... but the Laklands are very nicely built.

If theres a store nearby which carries them, you may want to give it a go so that you get a feel of what's out there.... But you won't go wrong with the SGs, that's for sure..... superb bass.

I feel i should post here, been a guitarist for a loooong time.

Fender Affinity Jazz bass is a classic bass, good value. The epiphone SG bass above is ok too, not my type as im a Fender man myself.

It all depends on how much wonga your wanting to throw at it.

£300 for a Squire (licensed by Fender) standard Jazz.
£700+ for a USA Fender Jazz/precision

you could also look at a Musicman Stingray, second hand if possible.

Heya this is kazza 1's son, I have a guitar version of it and it has a very very weak neck, if you apply any pressure to the neck it sounds outta tune, now i dont know about the bass version, but you should check it out dude before you buy it. Um I've been like playin for like 8 years and i would use a warwick or a warwick knock off they sound class. oh n if you want a really good sound buy, rotosound jazz strings there like £30 but there smooth as anything n sound great amp'd up. hope it helps dude! jay.
