I saw a trailer of a "reality" show the other night were Segal is on patrol with the local cops and they chase down some "lawbreakers" . One of the criminals says "Sh'it it's Steven Segal !!!! I've never seen anyone put their hands up so quickly  .

Bizzare TV

Have watched a few of them..........dont know why, Segal is now so horribly fat and old its funny.

Its basically Segal and 5 or 6 other fat old sheriffs driving around looking for "dodgy geezers"

They have to drive everywhere because they really cannot chase the criminals ( saw one episode where they chased a suspect and lost him in about 10 seconds because they were so slow)

Its a bit like dog the bounty hunter............but with actual guns ( not paintballs ).............same fat sweaty yanks trying to be heroes

But odly watchable just incase Segal pulls some mean ninja shi.t like he used to do in his dcent films

A bit of a slow start, history lesson followed by an intro to some of the lead characters. Couple of cliches already thrown in, e.g.  going through a dead japs knapsack a marine discovers a photo of the dead japs wife and kid, message being "they're human too"

Nevertheless, production looks good , certainly on a par (so far) with Band of Brothers, keeping a space on my shelf for the realease of the DvD.

My only complaint with the first episode is that the actors are too similar in appearance, very difficult to identify who's who.

I struggled with Band of Brothers for the same reason, plus the characters change constnantly and I get easily confused. Excellent watch mind  :D

I've watched 3 episodes and have to agree that identification of and with the main characters has so far been a a major flaw in the series, unlike Band of Brothers after 3 hours of viewing I still don't feel "engaged" with any of the personalities in addition to which if truth be told three episodes in and despite a few well staged action scenes it all seems a little slow.

Perhaps after Band of Brothers my level of expectation for this series produced by the same team was set to high but so far I wouldn't rate it more than a 6-7/10 whereas BoB was an immediate 9-10/10.

On a positive note looking at the schedule, episodes 5-9 cover the battles for Peleliu, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa so if nothing else we will be treated to at least four hours of superbly staged action.

Ah, ok, I get your point.

Pity the makers didn't advise us all to read the book on which the series is based before we watched it.

That's a good point.  :D

I read BOB after the TV series so naturally when I heard the Pacific was being produced I rushed out to get the 2 books. If you are interested the books are:

"Helmet for My Pillow: From Parris Island to the Pacific" Robert Leckie

"With the Old Breed" E.B. Sledge

If you like reading about WW2 anyway id still reccommend them.

I'm probably going to wait till it's out on DVD here and just buy it, same thing I done with Gen Kill.  :)
