anyway i once had a discussion with a black man about this word. dont ever say it to the wrong perosn basically, its rappers and general entertainment that has brought the word which was a insulting term used for slaves to the maind of the general public. words are words, some hurt more than otherts. some people wont be bothered by the term nigger others will be insulted etc.

Either way, I think it's ill-advised to say the least.

I wouldn't, especially since they are the ones who help perpetuate its use to their audience.

Fair point Dawson. By decent I really meant, most of people, as I assume the racists (which I do not deem decent) are nothing but a minority compared to non racist people (I like to think).

A racist is a racist, if you impose a law restricting them from using a racist remark, that doesn't alter the fact that they're a racist.

An extreme racist would use racist terminology regardless of any law.

A racist masquerading as a non-racist may not care either since they would not use it in public anyway.
