Regarding Bamaga; I listen to a lot of the old Soul and Motown myself. Some very good songs came from that era/genre.

i can remember as a kid having a gollywog and collecting gollywog badges from jam jars, i can also remember my nana knitting with a colour called 'nigger brown', i seem to remember it as being a recognised colour and not slang

some people dont see that some sketch shows actually were apposed to racism and use humour to show how some people are.

i remember a young ones episode where a man is trying to break into a house and a policeman arrests him, then takes off his sunglasses and says:

'im sorry sir, i thought you was a coon'

Now this part has been taken out of most re reuns of the show, but its not racist, its just showing that at the time racist views were held and were silly.

it is a funny as frick part of the hosw and to edit it out is terrible

but it was actually showing how the police viewed people of other races at the time. i dunno, i liked it anyways... it wasnt the show being racist tho, if anything it was banned for showing the police in a bad light.

oh, well that makes more sense now lol :D
