Also, as previously mentioned, I enjoy games I can play with my mates over a couple of cans and some laughs. Mario Kart, Donkey Konga, Smash Bros., various EA titles and Super Monkey Ball are great entertainment when you're drunk.

I think I could be called a hard core gamer in that I always build a state of the art PC every 18 months and I have about 300-400 games in total, mostly on the PC but also a few for the PS1 and PS2.
I have played many games on consoles and my experience is that the majority are drivel. Even marque games such as Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid can be p.iss poor but get away with it because console gamers don't know any better.
I recently bought Metal Gear Solid 2 and got bored as I had to wait approximately 45 minutes to get to a playable section of the game as all it was was FMV sequences and interactive movies. Console gamers think this is great, but a lot of console games have you looking at hours of movie sequences for your £45.
Compare this to the PC where we currently have brilliant shoot em ups like F.E.A.R doing the rounds, with great titles like Sin Episodes and Oblivion just around the corner.
The Xbox 360 is closer to the PC than the other consoles as it has PC type games like Call of Duty 2, but its still a console and for me, that can mean that by and large, the games are. I bought Fable recently for the PC which is a conversion of an Xbox hit, and it has inherited a god awful console type save game system.
Nintendo definitely make interesting games and I am considering buying a Gamecube now that they are very cheap, as Nintendo focuses more on gameplay than flashy titles like Sony and Microsoft.

Quake 4 and F.E.A.R have blistering action sequences and there are parts of Half Life 2 which can cause motion sickness.
I'm not knocking all console games but I own a PS2 and I can think of only 3 or 4 games for that machine that I'd bother buying, whereas on the PC there are 3 or 4 games being released in March that I'll buy.
