Never really rated Rare to be honest...  i'd have to say the only two games they made that i ever liked were of course, goldeneye and perfect dark... anything else they made like, donkey kong country, diddy kong racing, conkers quest etc.. were a load of bull!

Oh by the way.. the guys and gals who made Goldeneye have all since left to form the majority of the team that make the timesplitters games.
However, i must concede that the latest pictures of Perfect dark look promising... fingers crossed.

I was going to build a super PC this winter with bells and whistles on everything but now I'm merely going to overhaul my current PC with a new motherboard, an Athlon 64 4000, more memory (2 Gigs) and a XFX7800GTX Extreme Edition. I'll use the extra money I was going to spend on more high end stuff on an XBox 360.

Pretty cool stuff, eh?

I've built a few computers over the past few years and have learned that its pointless paying for state of the art stuff as they are simply too expensive and are no longer state of the art within a few months.

The best bet is to buy mid to lower upper range gear, for the best bang for your buck.

Also, if you are into gaming or series workstation stuff, don't bother buying a branded computer, which are too expensive and are generally under powered. Buy the parts separately and either build it yourself or get someone to build it for you.

I'm shortly going to take my first tenetative steps to upgrading. I'm gonna keep it simple to start and double my ram to 1gig n then upgrade my graphics card - I was thinking of gettin an ATI X800, but i'd be as well to get a Radeon 9800 for the time being.

I reckon after about 6-8 months i'll 'rip it up n start again'. :)

Yeah, you can't get a quote online on that site anymore, but when you could I customized a quad Xeon computer, and it would have cost $35K - a bit expensive for me!!!

I haven't upgrade my computer at home in well over 2 years. Still plodding along on a AMD XP 2200 with 1.5Gb Ram.  I was planning on building a new one in the new year, and passing this one onto the wife!  I'll have to format the drives first of all!!!!! :D

I currently have a 9800 Pro Feeney. Its getting a bit long in the tooth but it was an excellent card for its day (2 years ago).

The NVidia Ct6600s are decent cards and aren't expensive.

I've just been looking at the XBox 360. It supports High Definition TV. I have a large CRT monitor which supports high definition and I'll be able to plug the Xbox360 into that.

I'm already dropping hints to my girlfriend about my Christmas present. :D

I'm only really thinking something like that for one game - BF2. I've currently got a 9200 which isn't supported and to be honest that was the one game I was looking forward to all year. I can play F.E.A.R, which has ridiculous specs, but not BF2!!!!!

I'm probably just being a bit cheap and don't want to pay over the odds when i'm gonna need new everything next year as i'll move to PCI-E!  :D
