GYBS, I pointed out the other day you overstate the importance of Kuyts contribution. He got sufficient credit for the 10 yard square pass he made against Mancs, and for the tap in against Liege. If he was 'creating' and more importantly scoring goals on a regular basis I'm sure a lot of people would not be so critical

Every thread has turned into a Kuyt debate

It would be karma mate for him to score the winner or a couple of goals (just like last year  ) but i bet he would still not get credit for a lot of the anti kuyts.

I think he would absolutely get credit for it.

I just don't think he'd be heralded the saviour unless he starts contributing much more consistently to our league campaign.

It's a case of you thinking that everyone ignores the good stuff, and everyone else thinking you attach too much significance to the good stuff e.g. the pass to Babel was a good intelligent pass. It wasn't brilliant, he didn't create the chance, he just played the right ball at the right time, which he deserves credit for, but not the sort of hero worship it earns him from you.

No one is heralding a saviour thou , no one is saying its brilliant or he is brilliant or world class or a hero- they are just giving him credit where its deserved . Look through the posts and you will see the people that defend Kuyt also realise he has his limiations ,while also understanding the good he does for the team and is not in fact or just adecent prem footballer who am a number of occasions at important times has made a telling contribution . The man utd goal is just one example where he deserves as much credit as does babel and masher - not more or less . same with the liege goal , people slag him of cause it came of his shin or knee or etc but didnt give them credit for getting in position to get on the end of the cross in the first place to score that important goal.

From what I've seen, where people are making reasoned posts (rather than reactionary angry ones) the critics also recognise his strengths. So what's the difference?

You just attach a lot of importance to simple things he does, just like you say others don't attach enough importance to them.

I apologise from my comment about America. It was aimed to a poster because of the kind of thing he told me in the past, and I should have taken into consideration that we have here very good americans contributing, more than 5 great posters at the very least only in USA. I'd understand if I was carded for that. But for me it's important to set clear it's not about factions, it's about posters who talk footie (even if I disagree) and posters who don't.

I suspect the "injured" and "better dead" comments are probably best left alone now though, rather than them being mentioned every few posts.

I've seen them dredged up constantly and having seen the context I'm pretty sure the posters who said it in the first place probably didn't actually mean it...

RAFA BENITEZ believes Dirk Kuyt can again be Liverpool's Goodison derby hero - and bring an end to a barren spell of 10 months without a Premier League goal. 

In last season's show- down at Everton, the Dutch forward struck twice from the spot as Liverpool recorded a controversial 2-1 win.

Kuyt has only scored one Premier League goal since then, though, and that came against Newcastle last November.

But Benitez believes he has the character and the ability to strike when it matters most and believes Kuyt could produce more heroics tomorrow.

"With Kuyt, you know he can always score goals," insisted the Reds boss.

"He proved when we played Everton at Goodison last season that he can handle the pressure that comes when you have big moments in big games and I am sure he can do that again.

"He has a habit of scoring important goals at important times. If you look at his record in the Champions League it is very good, and it was only last month that he scored the late goal which allowed us to beat Standard Liege.

"That goal was a reward for the effort he put in on that night and I am sure if he continues to work as hard as he does then his rewards will come again."
