Yeah i know Ciggy started a thread before on here about this but I cant find it(no doubt Judge will pop up with a link to it to show how clever he is) but thats besides the point!
Well done in advance Judge ya qu,eer! :D

Anyway..anyone that has ever smoked will know it is really hard to give up!I wanted to for ages but.I tried lots of times but was ready for killing dead things by 10 am,totally stressed out..I kid you not!
It really got to me,cause they always won!lol. Then a few weeks ago my mum took a stroke. She is OK,out of hospital and all that and will recover fully in time hopefully. Now I dont want any, sorry about yer mum balls off anyone cause no one has ever met her off here and she is gonna be cool!
But the 1st day I went to see her was like a boot in the balls after they had been skinned and vinegar pored on them!Im not talking about my mums state that day but there was a woman lying beside her about 55 years old who could only move her eyes!!Yeah a 40 a day smoker that took a stroke and for the rest of her life can never move anything but her eyes..her head is all there, she can think as she always could but her body is not her own any more! :(

Scared the sweet fu'ck outt me!That was a Monday.I set a date that I would stop the following Monday and got all pshyced up.Got patches had my last Cig on the Sunday night at 11.55pm and aint smoked since!Almost 2 weeks and not a puff!!

Its fuc'king hard like as anyone will know who has done it or tried..but every time i feel like one I picture my mum and that woman beside her..fuc,k that!!

Anyone else given up lately or tried and failed??

Me, mate.

Sorry to hear that about your mum.

2 months ago I discovered I had high blood pressure, and I started taking care of what I ate. 2 months later I've lost weight and I have the blood pressure 12/8, but I can't give up smoking mate. So I've given up coke, coffee, salt, chorizo, and pre-cooked food which has lots of Sodium (like almost everything that it's not too natural), but I couldn't help the fúcking tobacco.

I've tried with a book that is famous and worked for many of my closest group of friends, but it didn't work for me.

Another mate has suggested me a drug Sintabac or something, that is ordered by the doctor, and basically removes all the anxiety of not being smoking. I'm gonna try that to see if it's any better.

Good for you mate.

I too am an anti-smoker but I have friends who smoke. The one that have given up have done so for similar reasons, I.e. Health scare or falling pregnant, etc.

Barry, this is the medicine I'm gonna try and that worked for a mate:

http://www.farmaciaandorra.com/tabaquisme_gb.htm

Zyntabac

He says that previous to that whenever he tried he was climbing the walls when he wanted to smoke, but with it, it's kind of anti depressive and you even have a stupid smile. But the thing is, he doesn't smoke any more.

The book that worked with my friends is an American's, Allen Carr, and it has helped a lot of people in the world. It's easy to read, and it's not based on scaring you. It tries to convince you that giving up smoking is easy.

The book says that if the physical dependancy was that big, we'd wake up in the middle of the night to smoke, just as a junkie would do with heroine. The book makes a lot of sense, but perhaps I tried it in a time I didn't really wanted to give up smoking, younger.

Definitely the enemy #1 in my life is tobacco, and I have to address that problem.

Good luck Barry

My mum is gonna be cool!
Its about smoking not sympathy,i was just showing what a kick in the balls can do.I smoked 30 a day!!,thanks all the same ffs no more of that.No one died!!

Sabre you can give up mate..its about 90% in the head!Really when ya wake up and have coffee its hard, but you have to hate them with a passion(really) and see them as the enemy..get stubborn and dont loose!Adapt a Mascherano attitude if ya like!
Its hard after food and i tell ya what after about a week it does strange things to your body!!You even shi'te different!! I swear mine are more solid!!

And Sandra I will NEVER smoke again..im sitting here now havin a fanta and Id sell my sack for one!Theres none in the house, but theres a shop about 100 yards away.No chance am i going back to that shi,te! Fu*king £60 odd a week to die young.
Blessing in disguise what happened I reckon,My mum will live longer and so will I!

A few Myths......are the first day is the hardest!
Bullsh'it..that is hardest cause you physically miss smoking in your daily routine, the actual habit, but im always busy in work so it was fine!
I was great for about 2 days then it was mad..really hard,it takes over yer head!!lol

You dont know what to do with your hands..again more shi,te!
Have a sh@g/w@nk,drink or play the Xbox if you are bored..dont sit like a fool with a plastic cig!!

You can taste food better..If anything I can taste less, but thats probably cause Ive ate about 10 packets of Orbit a day and the mint has killed my taste buds!

Anyway Im feeling well proud i never thought I could stop..Now I know I can and have!! :D

Sabre you can try anything mate!
i know a guy and his wife that spent£90 each on hypnotism and both smoked half an hour later!
Yet my brother in law got hypnotised and never smoked since..the difference was (i reckon) my sis was pregnant and he wanted to stop real bad cause he could not smoke indoors with a new baby!
It is all in the head, really is!
if you want to stop enough you can..its simple!

I used the patches and they did take the edge off it a bit but its only a small help..like a babel substitute in the 96th minute if your whole day is a match!!
A small help but fu'ck all worth talking about!

:D

Fuc'kin 9 weeks mate! :(

There was me thinking I was outta the woods!
It says in one of my booklets that I got(yes im a nerd sometimes) that you need to take Nicotine replacements for 8 MONTHS!!Fuc'k off like!

Im on step two..one day left on them patches and then its down to step 1..after that,im finished with patches and fags!!

Problem is i will probably start a fight in a queue or something in a random shop or my boss that I hate.
People that irritate you when you smoke multiply their annoyance tenfold when ya stop through no fault of their own!
Note to irritants underneath!!
