it depends on the way that you look at it, really. for many apple users, especially those that used their computers way before ipods, pads and phones were on the market, there is a connection with the device that is very strong and very unusual. most apple users are aware that they are using a beautifully designed product visualised by a man who was a genuine creative and visionary force in modern computing. steve jobs was almost like a demi-god to these people and they were always excited to see what he would come up with next - the truth being that they were rarely disappointed. without steve jobs and his emphasis on smart design and quality user experience, personal computing would have been left to engineers like bill gates and we would have nothing but dull uninspiring boxes to work and play with.
on the other hand, steve jobs is a man who maybe more than anyone has driven consumer mania and desire in the electronic goods market. he has created a situation where his devices are genuine 'must haves' for the young, the cool and the trendy. everybody either wants or already owns and apple product because it says a lot about how tuned in they are to the modern lifestyle. we should certainly question whether this is 'a good thing' or not.
whatever, even outside of his position as head of apple, jobs was very active on the speaker circuit, and inspired many people with his ideas about dedication, inspiration and following your heart.

Get up! everybody's gonna move their feet
Get Down! everybody's gonna leave their seat
