probably best you do because you can link it up to your internet network and have internet on it and i think on one update it allows you to watch tele on it.

So can anyone help?

Adam, just go to www.yourpsp.com - it's the official site where you can download updates, stuff for your games (i've got Wipeout Pure and i've got loads of extra tracks, music and ships for it) and wallpapers etc.

Other sites you can go to are www.pspdrive.com and www.pspconect.com - HOWEVER - i would suggest only downloading the update from the official site as you shouldn't download, say the american update for your euro PSP. These sites have loads of other content that you can download.

I didn't even know about that site. Thanks alot feeney. I was only going to sony.com and selecting psp and it only having the newest update available to download.

I didn't even know you could like get stuff for games aswell. I've got wipeout pure aswell so i'll take a look at the extras.

Thanks again.

The site's an awkward fecker I have to agree!

First off, click onto PSP downloads. On the right you will see it offers the update. Click on that.

It will take you to a page headed PSP essentials. At the bottom of this it will tell you you are on page 1 of 2. Click to go onto page 2 and it will have a link to download the update.

Remember the page 1 of 2 lark - you will have to do this again to agree the terms.

HOWEVER......

First, you will need a lead to connect your PSP to your PC as it downloads directly onto your PSP. (if you don't I put where I got mine on my post in the computer games thread)

Second, the downloads a hefty cow - about 17MB - which will eat away at most of your 32MB mem card that come with your PSP (unless you got the Giga Pack, in which case your a jammy sod  :p  ) - so make sure you have the space.

Personally, i've not bothered getting the latest update yet as a lot of what it gives you, you won't be able to do anyway (e.g. LocationFree TV) so have a look in the 'overview' field of each update and maybe download an older version that may be more suitable (e.g. being able to play WMA files.

Right next thing

I want to put a few videos on my psp, i look in the instructions and they tell me to got to

www.memorystick.com/psp

now if you go to this it tells you that it converts the video file, but it doesn't tell you what it converts it to, then if advertises its software which costs.

Just wondering if anyone knew what they are converted into and if there is any alternative software to do this.

Adam, I use PSP Video 9 - this converts your videos to MP4, which the PSP can recognise. It then transfers your video direct to your PSP.

If you are moving DVD films, you will need to shrink it first in order to fit in onto your mem card. I use DVD shrink, which I think I got from www.download.com

Both bits of software are free as well.

:)
