As long as an athlete's drug taking isn't performance enhancing then it isn't an issue for any sporting bodies.

Maybe his competitors will claim he does it to get the munchies so he can sustain his appetite for all the calories he eats. Ban him for life, actually, cheat.

As for the point of abuse, it's true and there are enough evidences that the abuse of it conveys psycological damage.

But, you could tell the same thing about alcohol. We all know that the excess of it converts the liver in foie-grass, and the excess of it could make you alcoholic, violent, even lead you to suicide.

I'd rather be in the back side of a car driven by one guy that is stoned rather than a car driven by a very drunk guy.

In Chicago's 30 alcohol was prohibited. Nowadays alcohol isn't and grass is. But I can't see why. Compared both drugs, I can't see one being a hell worse than the other.

Yeah I know but at the end of the day they bend the rules now and again and they wouldn't ban someone like him. Look at Christina Ohurugu. She missed 3 drugs tests and still manage to win a gold medal.

Wait till London people are going to expect to see Phelps, myslef included.

Phelps has never failed a drug test though, and he usually takes some time off after the olympics. Last time after the olympics, he got arrested for drunk driving and he wasn't even of legal drinking age. I am sure he will be clean before he gets in the water again to train seriously. The story was timed perfect for him because nobody is paying attention due to the Superbowl

I smoke it but I asked a coach once involved with the Welsh rugby team and his answer did make sense. Although he had nothing against it as a recreational drug even though he didnt use it he felt that it can enhance an athlete if that athlete cannot relax or finds it beneficial in training or in competition.

Some athletes will take stuff to make them more aggressive or powerful bnut some dont need that and have difficulty relaxing so in a way it still artificially improves their performance. Whether Phepls uses it during training is another debate but as much as I am for legalising it I think he is a bit daft or naive to get caught up in this

smoked it for recreational purposes.

He might smoke in training as he gets too wound up. A long shot yes but its still an illegal drug and he is a gold medal winner. I would smoke it if I won a gold so am hypocritical but its the way it is
