i'm off to Val d'Isere in 4 weeks skiing and i was wondering if anyone here had been before.  I've gone out and bought a ski jacket, trousers and gloves and will hire everything else.

Anyone got any tips?  Never been before!

Never been skiing or never been there in that place?

if you've never been skiing, then take with you some sun screen and the thing for the lips.

I have been, its great going down, but its either very expensive or very tiring going back up. Just learn the snow plow and the subtle fall to the side manouvre, rather than the more dramatic and showy cartwheel manouvre and you will be ok :D

Don't ski straight into someone, they might sue you.

Don't be tempted to try a 'black run'.

Don't go off-piste.

Don't be fooled by moguls.

DO have lessons before you go.

DO get proper gear, especially a neck warmer and proper socks.

DO try snow blades.

DO have a few bevvies after.
