A nice poem from a very brave man!!!

In Flanders fields the poppies blow, between crosses
Row on row that mark our place
And in the sky the larks still bravely singing scarce
and the guns below fly

We are the dead, short days ago we lived
Past dawn and sunset glow
Loved and were loved and now we lie
In flanders fields

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us will die

Written by John McCrae in the trenches, i apologise if a few bits of the poem are out of place cause i aint into all this cutting and pasting shi.te!!
I hope few will argue that this is a touching piece of genuine literature from the 1st world war!!

And totally highlights the fact that Britain should remain British and we should all fight to keep our identity if not for ourselves for those who gave all before you was a twinkle in your grandaddies eye!!
I feel ashamed at times that i have actually voted for a bunch of liars that have actually let our great country slip from our grasp in promise of a fake non existant better day in Europe!
As for the people who come here in search of a better life....Welcome!! But go and have a good fuc.kin look as to what being British is all about before you warm your seat!!And if u dont like it ......do as you would in any room or party and simply leave!Dont try and outbreed or outcry us as that will never work!!
Its an emotional time for me as my grandmother gets upset and i care for her a lot....but i wont let her die thinking that my grandfather died for nothing......No fuc.king way! Great Britain stands!!

Their efforts were not in vain. We have maintained our freedoms from tyranny, and upheld the freedoms of smaller nations around the globe. Those who were too weak to defend themselves from invasion by ruthless dictatorships. We helped them.
Britain has changed from protagonist to saviour in the space of the last century. Many would argue that we started the second Gulf War, but this is untrue. The evil Saddam Hussain took torture and terrorism to new, unprecedented levels. Often these acts of horrendous inhumanity were directed against his own people. His country invaded Kuwait, and had run-ins with countless others. He was the modern-day Adolf Hitler.
Until Britain, together with America, stopped his hellish rule.

Although I have an intense dislike for Tony Blair, it cannot be argued that he, in the face of massive opposition from France, Germany, and his own party members, stood tall and "maintained the right", to coin the Mounties motto.

Despite Blair's utter failings as a PrimeMinister in general, he got this decision right. British soldiers died - yes. But they died fighting for a weaker country's children. They fought for other human's freedom. They died heroes deaths.

Britain and the US may have many faults, but they saved a nation.

Sorry Lando, but I have to disagree with each and evry word in the above quote!

:help

EDIT - Though I do agree about Blair (or B-Liar, as I call him) being a sh*t PM.

So whats your take on it then, LA?

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.        BILL SHANKLY

Oh! You who sleep in Flanders’ fields,
Sleep sweet - to rise anew,
We caught the torch you threw,
And holding high we kept
The faith with those who died.
We cherish too, the poppy red
That grows on fields where valour led.

It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies,
But lends a lustre to the red
Of the flower that blooms above the dead
In Flanders’ fields.

And now the torch and poppy red
Wear in honour of our dead.
Fear not that ye have died for naught
We’ve learned the lesson that ye taught
In Flanders’ fields.

We will remember them................

Don't forget that many of them are still alive, I mean there are lots of old people around who fought in WW2. Remember Edwina Currie telling old people who were in risk of freezing to death in the winter as they hadn't the money for heating to wear more clothes.

Also, What are the views of the Northern Ireland people on here about the tricolour and union jack being side by side as many people from the republic of ireland died fighting for Britain. I thought it was great and a sign of change that the two can be side by side (I don't think many in ROI want to acquire NI - assuming sinn fein don't grow too much down here, which I don't think they will)
