What a great player he was.

He mentioned not so long ago that he never wanted to leave Liverpool.

I believe it was Souness who sold him when he still had much to offer.

Set us back years.

he was still an england regular when we sold him and he became evertons top scorer that season, we sold him for one million and everton sold him for one and half million.

He was absolutely brilliant too, and a delight to watch -how spoiled were we back then? As skillful as anyone Ive ever seen and always looked like he had plenty of time on the ball.

Cant understand the thinking of Graeme Souness selling him to Everton of all clubs?
Ah we didnt need him -we had Paul Stewart.  :lookaround

Part of me is glad to remember those days, another part thinks that if I hadn't been so spoiled back then I wouldn't have such high expectations for lfc in terms of success and style.

He was such a fantastic player, I think it was Kenny's first season as manager when he bought Beardo, Barnes, Aldridge and HOughton, all fairly expensive for the time but all true legends.

To think a clown like Beckham is idolised as an England great (especially by women!!!) and a true footballing great like Beardo just never gets his due credit (women rarely mention him as an England legend!!! - think Paul Scholes) makes me angry

Probably why I give Rafa such stick, I remember beating Manure 4-0 one day, absolutely hammered them, it was on live TV which was rare back then. He was also great at newcastle after everton sold him (again - why?)

He holds the people of liverpool (red and blue) in very high regard and no doubt vice-versa.

I remember that being the talk of football. Wasn't it Kenny shagging his missus though Leon? ( had to edit that bit, you'd know better than me mate so fair enough, he was shagging  Mrs Dalglish)

Whatever anyway, whoever was shagging who he was a truly wonderful footballer. One of the very best to have worn the red shirt over the years in my opinion. I used to love that little shimmy followed by the no backlift shot. Absolutely worked his nots off as well.

The trickyness, vision and goal threat of Garcia combined with the workrate of Kuyt. Feck me you'd kill to have him in the team in his prime today.

He was sitting in the analysis box on Sky before the Derby a couple of years ago and said that you could tell Liverpool and Everton fans apart on the streets of Liverpool from the accent.

Don't know what the fuck he was on about there...  A blatant falsehood.

BTW, absolute beast of a player.  Still used to enjoy watching him play even when he was in Keegans Newcastle side.  We sold him way too early.

Some very impressive things I can remember from that player's football.

Cuiously, I remember that back then he had more fame than he has now. Meaning, when now I see you talking about past legends, Peter Beardsley isn't as mentioned as other players, but back then he had a great impact that player in Europe, it was the kind of player who had a computer game and everything! world wide known, as it would be a Villa nowadays.

Oh come on mate, he's hardly a pin-up. He's got a chin that would even make Jimmy Hill envious.

But he was a blood.y good footballer, we could do with him now.
