Good Luck to him mate...... send him the best from us.

The paralympics are well worth watching.... Not to sound patronising or nothing but what these guys/gals do given their limitations is nothing short of inspiring. Shame it doesn't get as much coverage as the regular stuff.

His dedication is unbeilevable the lads name is Dervish Konuralp . hes represented GB now at the last 3 olimpics and won a few medals. But this time he just made the qualifying time he doesnt hold out much hope of a medal but hes there an thats the main point.

The Chinese say they are going to win all the golds in the pool, i think they are in for a shock.

Danny got the gold last time.
He lost his arm in a car crash in OZ, i was working with his mum at the time and them he come to work with us just to get him out the house.
He has done so much and helps others that have had the same happen to them, he is such i a nice guy.

In truth he has had a very bad year and he is not fit but he is still going to give it his best.

GB flag-bearer Crates ruled out

Crates suffered a recurrence of his Achilles problem over the last month
Danny Crates, who carried the British flag at the Paralympic opening ceremony, will not defend his 800m title because of a calf injury.

Crates, 35, has been struggling all year but said last week he would "give it everything" to be on the start line.

"I'm totally devastated to have got so close," he said in a statement.

"I have always said I wanted to be competing for a medal and not just a participant, which is why I've pushed myself in training."

Tim Jones, the ParalympicsGB athletics team manager, said: "We are desperately disappointed for Danny.

"Whilst he has faced an uphill battle all year there had been some encouraging recent signs and we all believed he would reach the start line ready to not only compete, but in good shape to defend his Paralympic title.

"However, this latest setback has forced this decision. We have reluctantly had to admit defeat."

Question, If you win a gold medal at the para olympics do you still qualify for the full range of disability benefits ? . Only ask as some one legged t'wat beat me to a parking space today and then hopped quicker than I could run to the cash point machine.

:(

Just looking at the vid Lakes posted and it's a crying shame that when these athletes have trained just as hard if not harder than the Olympic athletes they are competing in empty stadiums and arenas. Surely the Olympics and Paralympics could be run simultaneously. I seem to remember that the 2002 Commonwealth games did this and it was a success, so why not recognise Paralympians (is that a word? ???) properly and have their events running alongside the main Olympics in front of capacity crowds.

there was never going to much of a crowd for this. untill a few years ago China said they did not have any disabled.

if you was disabled you was hidden away in China.
